Title: Looking for thieves
Post by: Prof.Witchheimer on 19 September 2011, 02:50:35 PM
Looking for figures of thieves, fantasy or middle age. Any suggestions?

Prof,
I am guessing that you may want these for Mordheim/Witchtown.
I have managed to put together a Thieves warband using old 80's Citadel figures, scouring ebay mostly, utilising 'C; series Thieves and Rangers and the odd adventurer-type. They will eventually all be painted (hopefully!) as if is 'night', either in monochrome or a blue 'night-lighting' effect that is often used in films.
('Harry Carter and the 14 Thieves' will soon see action, I hope!)

If it not important what range the figures come from there are a lot of options using pre-slotta stuff and even some of the earlier ranges that were aimed at AD&D players, such as Ral Partha, Grenadier and early Citadel. More recently, Reaper produce quite a few, using their search option should make it easier.

Is it only human thieves you are after, or a mix of races?

Wow, that was easy, Reaper has indeed a lot of options. And some other races like Halfling and Dwarf would be a nice addition. And looking at the pics on the Reaper site I’ve realized that I’ve already got some of them,  just completely forgot. Great deal, thanks guys :)

Mason, it would be great to get together some old Citadel ones but I guess it would take away lot of time and money.

Of course I’m open for more options being available out there.

Funny you should mention it; there's a little discussion going on about Thieves & Bandits at Tom's Boring Mordheim Forum:

It might be worth a visit...or not.

With Reaper, Marius Barrowell has always been a favorite:

There are some good suggestions already here and on the forum over at Tom's (the Privateer Press cut throats and the Freebooter assassins, for examples).  Some of the Black Scorpion pirates should work - I use them for Mordheim (may be slightly too 18th-century feeling, with those tri-corn hats, but I love them).

I too have been building up a collection of some of the old Citadel C-series rogues.  They tend not to go as high as some of the other old series (Traveling Players, villagers, old metal Empire militia) and there are some really nice figures in that series.  Just don't bid on any of the ones I am bidding on, of course!

Maybe Bruegelburg needs some thieves (hint, hint).

Iron Wind Metals has a fair number of the old Ral Partha thieves and assassins scattered throughout their fantasy range - including most or all of the ones from the 3 Stage Character packs, which are particular favorites of mine.

The Warhammer dark elves assassins may be suitable.
Typing "rogue" in the Figure Finder on the Reaper website gives some additional hits (to those you get with "thief").
