Hi All
My name is George Georgiou, AKA G2 on most of the forums I am on. Even though I personally only collect 28mm, and only want to play games in few genres (Fantasy, WWW2, Star Wars, Steampunk/VSF), I am big fan of wargaming in all its formats, and most eras of history. As well as wargaming in a AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego). I have found myself being attracted more and more to wargaming with my Lego, and I have started making some moves to getting this happening. I have also noticed this trend in others both here on these forums and on other parts of the internet. So I have decided to start my onw Lego Wargaming thred on these forums. The idea will be:
1. To show Lego creations suitable for Lego wargaming (minis, weapons, buildings, terrain etc)
2. Discuss various rules which can be used for Lego wargaming (Flying Lead, Nuts, Brik Wars, GASLIGHT, WHFB etc)
3. To showcase some Lego wargames which have already been played and photographed.
I will be aiming my thread towards adults, but all the little people who play with Lego as a toy, are more than welcome to contribute and participate.
Lets start off by showing you some "eye-candy". Just for the record is NOT my stuff. I will post my stuff too, but I will let you know when it belongs to me, otherwise just enjoy.

Quite impressive and quite far off the clunky multicoloured construct I made as a kid. Still make, in fact, now that I have kids.
-
Wow,wasn't expecting to like this stuff but that is some really impressive Lego!
I should imagine that the cost is quite prohibitive though as all of us with kids (or those of us that still cling tightly to our inner child) know Lego ain't cheap

Lego ain't cheap
It's not, but then neither is buying painted figures...
I started getting pirate stuff a couple of years ago to play lego pirate games but I got stung on a bartertown trade that killed the mood of that project. I keep looking at the lego starwars stuff though, as I'd love to do Assault on Hoth in lego... The cost of the At-At's is what's killing that though :(

Fantastic stuff George :-*
Not a big fan myself but my son lives for X-box and Leggo.
-
Lego is brilliant. This stuff is great too.

I must confess that without good rationality I keep thinking that all these Minifigs and the plethora of custom made pieces is cheating. In my day we had to make do with square pieces in primary colours and nothing else. The fancies we had were the transparents. And we were happy!

About 50 years ago... !

Yes I hear you. I played with my first Lego back in the mid-late 70s. Back then it was the Classic Space stuff. Very blocky and limited colours. I got back into Lego in the mid 90s and since then, there has been some really nice parts produced, which has aided the creation of the lovely models you can see in this thread. I havn't even discussed the "moders" who paint and cut their Lego.
As regards to price, yes Lego is expensive, but so is our wargame hobby. I can understand that most people don't want to both, but I do.
I still want to show you guys some really nice game layouts that people have done.
Stay tuned for more

As ridiculous as those prices are, people are paying them.

I had a similar experience with Bricklink a couple month ago, pretty much made me shelve the whole idea. :(

Fascinating. :o
Keep the photos coming.

As an AFOL who got into wargaming as an excuse to play with Legos, I couldn't agree more with the ridiculous pricing. This is the main reason I do not do terrain in legos. For example, if I was going to do a 40"x40" SoBH table it'd take 16 32x32 stud plates at $7 a piece...and that just gets you a flat play surface - add in trees and enough plates to make a hill...not to mention enough bricks to make even small fortifications :(
I play with Legi minis on 'traditional' terrain. It's a nice compromise. Aside from cost, I like to be able to model my terrain myself.
Example: here's a shot of my desert terrain.
