Cheers. Something to listen to while I'm painting every night this week.
-
Cracking stuff, the Mountains of Madness with Richard Coyle was good, so hopefully this one will be aswell. :)
-
having a listen now ! anyone know where i can get the mountains of madness ?
-
Wonderful! Got a bunch of molding to get done and this will be perfect background. Thanx for the heads-up Doug!
-
thanks
-
I've listened to 1 and 2 and really enjoyed the story and presentation - much better (in my opinion) than the earlier radio play Mountains of Madness, also featured on Radio 4 extra.

Really enjoyed ep1. good performance and great mood music. Ep2 is due in a couple of mins. 4xtra is a bit repeaty so its great to have some original productions although you can never have too much "Journy into space". :D

Been listening to these on BBC Iplayer. Good atmospheric stuff, but the Wayne June reading is better IMO. The Weird Tales are worth a listen - "HP Lovecraft" locked away in a cell, introducing stories inspired by his writings

How do you download radio programs on I-Player? I can't find a way of doing it.
-
Thanks for the link, I listened to all five parts last night back-to-back and enjoyed them very much.
Then played CoC today, and we ran into Deep Ones, though our characters didn't know to call them that. "Fishy monsters"

I tried but I don't think you can, a shame because I'd be happy to listen more than once
EP4-5 to go for me, and so far I have loved it! Even the shakey accent (insanity inspired?) of Zadok Allen!

My mistake, I thought he meant he'd downloaded them using I-player, d'oh! lol

Listened to the first three parts while I was doing some painting this afternoon. Perfect accompaniment :)
Rather good actually. I've always thought Richard Coyle was a pretty good actor.
But be warned. BBC iPlayer only holds content for a week or so. The first episode disappears tomorrow I think, so catch it while you can. Obviously you've got correspondingly more days to listen to episodes 2 - 5.
The above link didnt work for me, but just go to BBC.co.uk, select iPlayer, and search for Shadows Over innsmouth. It takes you straight to the available episodes...
-
Very nice, any way of buying mp3s of these and the other one?
-
I don't think so. Generally, stuff is available on iPlayer for a few days after broadcast, and then disappears (although some things seem to stay available for ever). Guess they are generating so much content that they have to time limit quite a lot of it. And aren't in any hurry to sell off their content, much less let people 'save it' for free... :(
Shame, because would be jolly nice to have these to enjoy over and over, wouldn't it? ;)

It is possible to record programmes as they are being streamed and save them as mp3 files. I use Audacity - although I didn't record this series, I'm afraid :( .
Also, if you have an iPhone, you can get an ap called Tunein Radio which has a facility to record whatever you are listening to. You can then listen to it again on the iPhone or connect the iPhone to your computer and record the programme again on Audacity which then allows you to save it as an mp3 file.

I think their predominant color was a greyish-green, though they had white bellies. They were mostly shiny and slippery, but the ridges of their backs were scaly. Their forms vaguely suggested the anthropoid, while their heads were the heads of fish, with prodigious bulging eyes that never closed. At the sides of their necks were palpitating gills, and their long paws were webbed. They hopped irregularly, sometimes on two legs and sometimes on four. I was somehow glad that they had no more than four limbs. Their croaking, baying voices, clearly used for articulate speech, held all the dark shades of expression which their staring faces lacked ... They were the blasphemous fish-frogs of the nameless design - living and horrible.

Caught some of the first episode, now on nights and forgot about the rest......a big doh! Shame you can't buy it as I would love to have it for the painting inspiration.............
-
It was excellent, but I can recommend Wayne June's reading of it in "The Dark Worlds of HP Lovecraft Vol 2".
-
I downloaded 1-4 with a little prog called Radio Downloader, but missed ep 5.Doh! :(
