Looking to fit our one of my Chinese buildings as a highly dangerous and over-the-top fireworks factory (suggested names by return please).
Anyone got any ideas for 28mm fireworks? Congreve rockets spring to mind, but I need a full range of badly made and highly dangerous fireworks?????
-
Well, I think you could start with lots of firecrackers all tied together in long strings (small microstrip painted red would do the trick), then differing sizes of the Congreve you mentioned in respective holders (I think an angle of about 60-70 degrees to vertical would do).
I know the Japanese have a small version of the Catherine wheel with only two little rockets on it and the central roundel has nice designs painted on, and since a lot Japanese culture originated from China it seems feasible to have them there also (make them bigger though :D ).
As to a name, I'm pretty rubbish at this sort of thing but you could have 'Lo Bang'

If you want a bunch of rockets in different sizes, check out ancient or medieval Chinese armies. I have seen rockets & fire lances listed with some of them in my looking over lists. It would be really simple to make them though. Get a variety of small tube & toothpicks, wire, or even plastic broom bristles. Cut the tube to lenght, then glue the stick in & cut to what ever size. Scratch builds will give you that irregular look. You could even slip a piece of thread in when you glue the stick in the tube for a fuse.

For the construction, think immensely thick stone walls and balsa-wood for rafters, so the inevitable explosion is channeled skyward and not outward...
Thick blast-doors that swing in[/i]...
Looking forward to seeing it. :D

Nearly finished. I'd hoped to get it done for Christmas but family and other things got in the way (as they always do at this time of year ::) sometimes I wish I was an orphan lol )
I still have the rocket stands to finish off but there are a couple of progress shots included here :)

Love the repairs. The rest is OK, I guess... (I am of course kidding, the whole thing is a thing of beauty).

That is great work, as always, James!
Was the wall blown-out by the "industrial accident", too?
What is the wooden platform for?
Re. your workbench, what do you store in the plastic drawers?
Finally, are those pictures of the missus in the background?
Cheers & Happy New Year!

Jimbibbly, your factory is wonderful. Please post when completed. Love it! Richard

Very nice !!! :o :)
And the factory owner pays a poor guy to guard the building with some sort of pole weapon, fork or hallberd ...while he has all the black powder he needs around him lol

Bang on Mr Bibbly 8)

As far as naming it I would call it "Safety Third" translated into Chinese. Great build.

Do you really want your night guard firing a gun around all that black powder and such?
That is an awesome building, the round gate and such on the front wall is definitely my favourite detail. Are the tile roofs from molded plastic card?

Wow Jim! The details are spectacular :o :o I particularly like the soot marks around the windows where the "slight accident" ocurred and on the ground and wall where fireworks testing is carried out.
