Seeing the new Copplestone south American Indians and the John Jenkins Designs paddlesteamer. I am thinking of an expedition up the Amazon in search of a legendary giant Anaconda. Any suggestions for suitable model snakes that would fit in with 28mm figures?
I know most toy shops sell rubber toy snakes, but need one that would paint up well.
-
I remember one snake winding around a tree stump from Ral Partha, Ironwind Metals would be the right place to look at. But that'll be real 25mm.
-
Reaper has one, also RAFM Cthulhu Amazon expedition set contains a snake
-
Thanks guys, I know of those two, but I want a really big one!
-
BTD has one too, it's a bit bigger then reaper and RAFM, this one is not really a beauty but its a snake :) I've got it and could make a pic afternoon after coming home
-
Thats Prof, I'll look forward to the photo.
-
I thought , it was bigger :) not really huge and a bit ugly sculpt

Thanks for the photo. You are right, its not the best one around. I think I will probably get the RAFM Miskatonic Amazon expedition one.
-
Why not makin` one yourself with Greenstuff ?
Cant be that difficult.
Cheers

Hallo waht abaut that one ? It is from reaper .
The photo is bad because it look like the Snake has to long teeth.
But I have paint it and I must say that in reality the teeth are ok .
the snake is a little bigger than the RAFM one .

Nice snake, but I don't want a cobra. I am going to go with the Rafm miskatonic adventures amazon expedition one. Thanks for your responses folks. :)

Just right size for Nagini?
-
ever thought about one of the plastic toy ones and just repaint it.
-
http://moonlightmini.com/Miniatures.htm About halfway down there's a big snake. The rest of the figures in the line are 34's I think.
-
I have the Rafm snake - its nice (I painted mine in white shades as an undergroud monster for a necromunda campaign a few years back - I must give it a jungle repaint some time).
Nick - you haven't got time to start another project - you should be painting Home Service troops, MIBBHs and landships to defend old Blighty against the Hun

Yes, I think that's a very good decision! 8)

Jesus! Never mind the snake, look at the size of that guy's hands! :o
That's a lovely little scene there, mind, Admiral, is it your own?
-
Yes indeed, that's my own minis, my own terrain and my own photo
Even the guy with the gun has been sculpted by myself years ago when working as a miniature designer for Metal Magic! But you're right, it's been one of my very first sculpted miniatures at all, and although the face came out quite ok, hands were much too large :(
But anyway, you only learn through experience ... :)

Admiral Benbow!!!! :o :o  [/quote]
-
Admiral, I hope I didn't cause any offence with my comment, giant hands aside, that is a very nice sculpt and a very characterful diorama.
Sorry if I did, anyway.
-
Hey, no problem at all, you just described a main feature of the figure
I'm not a fan of those "fantastic figure, exorbitant paint job" comments on each and every miniature shown at the forum, even when it's a real bad execution of painting a mini. You can only learn by trying to avoid your mistakes next time!
And thank you for your nice words on the complete scene; it's not a real diorama, but just part of my jungle terrain. I love to include small hidden scenes on the terrain pieces.
-
Spot on, Thats the snake for me :)
-
WOW
Now that snake is just what I want for my Pygmy cult of the snake God!
You see the little chaps need to keep the snake God Appeased and of course a pygmy wont last as long as a tall person so cue sacrifice........

Mage Knight Whirlwind set had the Serpent Invader

Base is about 3 inches long. Draconian is on there with a small peg in his bottom (would need to fill hole in the snakes neck) and there is a sort of saddle horn and straps on it. It's all plastic, so would be easy to shave down and putty.

There's that german company that makes high end animal figurines. I'm blanking on their name though...
ever thought about one of the plastic toy ones and just repaint it.

look at the size of that guy's hands! - You know what they say about a guy with big hands.....
wait for it....
They were big gloves.
That is an awesome snake, Admiral. Worthy of taking out a whole expedition! Jennifer Lopez wouldn't have stood a chance against that monster!
-
I've got a few of those...... Need to go through my old Mage Knight stuff for pulp inspired conversions now.
