Had an email to day suggesting that the Portuguese for the Guerra do Ultramar may see the light of day before the end of the year. Fingers crossed. :)

good news! :)

Please help me, what do you mean?

From what I've been able to gather, Carlos has comissioned a range of Portuguese from Eureka... I think :) Are these going to be for a modern setting?

Exatamente!
28mm Portuguese for the colonial wars in the 1960s and 1970s. Compatable with existing Eureka ranges, in particular the African guerillas. Were due out earlier this year but the very talented sculptor has been flooded with other work of perhaps more commercial potential.

Yes, I imagine that the three of us that are waiting for these form a rather small portion of the Eureka customer base. :D
It's good news that they are still going ahead though and that they haven't languished!

Oh I'm sure they'll sell. Apart from some Portuguese gamers, I suspect they will tie in nicely with a forthcoming FoF title. No doubt people who play the Peter Pig rules will want some as generic Europeans. Come to think of it, with head swaps, guys with G3s should be pretty useful for a whole range of things.

I will buy, for FoF. Cool idea

I'll be really keen to see these. I've caught the FoF bug myself.
When you say "compatible with existing Eureka ranges"... I found the French Foreign Legion to be tiny next to the Navy Seals! I guess these might be out of the time-frame for the Portuguese, anyway.
More variety of miniatures for conflicts real or imagined is always going to be a good thing. Can't wait, the sculpts have been really good lately.

Perceptions vary it seems. That's fair enough. I've got the first and second releases of the FFL, the beret version and the helmeted. There's a barely perceptible difference in height on some poses. Thoroughly compatable. Sitting in front of me are the two most upright posed FFL and SEAL figures. I''m really struggling to see much difference at eye height. I think the helmet of the SEALs make them appear a little taller than they are. I'm quite happy with all my Eureka moderns in terms of size vis a vis the others.
Anyway, moot point. I have been asked whether I would prefer patrolling poses, which I originally requested or something a little more dynamic. My personal preference is still for the patrolling poses. Kosta has indicated that for these he would most likely use the Rhodesian dollies so they will be the same general height and heft. That also means they will be a perfect match for the ZANLA figures which was partly the point of the whole exercise.

Excellent, that's good to know Carlos. Thanks for the conclusive response!
I'll definitely be giving the figures we talked about another look, though.

They've arrived and just in time for Christmas. Gorgeous figures well worth the wait. :D :D :D :-*
