Title: V for Visitors
Post by: Penchour on 13 October 2011, 03:10:32 PM
I'm trying to work on "V" (Visitors : TV series from 80's), yet lack of information on uniforms. Anyone has an idea of where I could find pix, description of grades, military structure and whatsoever ?  :?
I'm painting my first proxie right now, based on Crooked Dice's Time Lift Security Detachment (picture expected within hours ;) ), but I'll need more consistent data before painting in mass (surely also need a bit of modifications, like shades and helmets, for some ...)

So far, I only collected a dozen of pix, more or less usefull, so I'm picking anything you've got for documentation.

Let me see what I can dig up.  In the meantime ...

Thanx Dan. I can't wait the next bunch of references you'll find ;)

first painted attempt

Not too bad I think. I'll come with a first bunch of troopers wearing caps, but I'm intending to proceed to more 'advanced' transformation in the 2d wave of minis.
Also found a shuttle here :
it's a VTOL sold by Daemonscape, yet license is (was ?) GZG.

I wish I knew how to re-post those photos directly, like you just did, so all can see the pics in those links.

Anyway, I've gotta go to the hospital to see my Mom (87 years old). They might be releasing her today, so I have to be there to take her to her house.

I posted a bunch of stuff on TMP on the "Visitors", but I promise to dig up and post more for you here.

If you highlight the normal link with the 'jpg' at the end (by holding left click and dragging over the link to give it a blue covering) and then click on the framed picture in the tool bar above (second on the left, just above the smilies), you will end up with [img 'YOUR LINK' /img] (there will be square brackets after the first img and before the second as well).  That will post the pic in the thread.

I love the idea, and think using the CD time lift was a great idea that I might have to borrow.  I hope you post this on the CD forum as well.

Any ideas what heads and such you'll use for Vistors showing their true colors, or maybe those with only a little lizard showing through some battle damage.

Cool stuff.

You read my mind ;) So far I didn't come with a valuable idea ... I might use some of that Star Wars bounty hunter head .... can't remember his name, but since that's the one with the lizard head, shouldn't be that difficult to find. If you've any idea, I'll gladly see it ;)

These would make good shocktroopers for the V series:

Interpol from somewhere I can't remember at the moment... ???

Next time I'm over at his I'll ask. From what I remember the standard shuttle is a front and back. The bigger squad ship or water carrier or whatever they were is just an insert for the middle. Quite clever really. I'll also inquire about price.

Heresy miniatures inspectors will be perfect for vistors in peak caps:

Also no issue with those demonscape vehicles, Jon (GZG) did indeed sell these on for demonscape to produce.

That's actually a plot point, there is one old man who does and people won't listen to him until it's all too late.

Instead of Bossk, you might want to use a Trandoshan head.  Same race as Bossk, cheaper more common figure.

Excellent suggestions. There should be at least one of the heads and some other body parts that would come in the right proportion with CD minis

I've been gathering minis to do the 'modern' version of V.

The show was bad enough to be good!

The orginal V was certainly in that category.

Well, I'm told tha blue is considered a calming color, as opposed to warlike red.

Eagerly awaiting more pics,

Thanks for the kind words ;). That follower's button only appears when it wants to .. by refreshing the page, you should find it pop like a devil out of his box ^^
The scenaries you mention mainly come from Ainsty (http://www.ainsty-castings.co.uk/ (http://www.ainsty-castings.co.uk/)), within their refinery range. The building appearing on one of the pix is made of facades released by Pardulon (http://www.pardulon-models.com/ (http://www.pardulon-models.com/)).

(http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/4369/dsc04960fb.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/819/dsc04960fb.jpg/)

Beside Anna and young Starchild, there are 3 modified miniatures : first comes with a lezard head with shades, retaken from a Star Wars plastic mini (maybe turn him into some high rank NPC, or special commando ... have to figure this out), the 2 others are guards on which I put the helmets from East Riding corporate cops (bringing more dynamic poses to the gang). Still another one to work on (including shades), and I'll have a whole staff of Visitors (exception made of a female pair that should be done one CD release their "angels" from the Time Lift project ... then I'll try to come with an heroic staff including a female scientist, a reporter and a zealous mercenary (for that very one, I might have an idea on what mini to use)

No, I have not seen the remake.
A friend told me it was pony, so I didnt bother.
It seems that you reinforce that view!
(Sounds a bit like Alien Nation-More pony IMO....

I was referring to the original series.
A classic!

Title: Re: V for Visitors
Post by: aliensurfer on 27 October 2011, 02:46:23 PM
worse than alien nation - it was more like a naff version of CSI or similar, just with some token effects to say 'yes, these uber-pretty flawless pretty people' really are aliens, and the odd bit of CGI for a ship or shuttle etc. It was soooooooo slow and boring compared to the original. I wish they had just bought it up to date instead of sodding around with it  :'(

I quite liked the new V, also Alien Nation.  :)

It was a very different show than the original V, sometimes I think remakes that are so far from the original are hurt by, not helped by association with the source.
