Title: Venice and Cthulhu
Post by: avolakia on October 26, 2011, 05:43:59 PM
 :)

Hello, long time I've been immersed in my work and I could not go through this wonderful forum, I've also been working with some friends at a card table based on the new Venice carnevale game, and also modeled a dark young of sub nigurat, here I refer to the photographs that you see and bear your opinion thank you all:)

Wow! Very convincing Dark Young. The pose is very dynamic, and the monster is suitably menacing. Though Black Ball's  Dark Young is a superb sculpt, yours is less cartoony, so, it would have my preference, and it's more dynamic than either RAFM's and old Grenadier's. Will it be produced?

This is one of the times when I wished I'd concentrated on one genre and one time zone, instead of indulging in way too many (and, sadly, still looking!)  ;D

I hope I'm in time to place my order... In other words, do sign me up for one (1) of these very nice Dark Young minis (obviously if the price goes through the roof - say, doubles from 18$ - for some reason then I may have to reconsider).

I'd appreciate a PM when the mini has been cast.

Hello friends, I have finished the mold for dark young, and I started doing the first castings, I'll start when I have the first copies to send them in date order of the people who sent me a private. I will tell you the shipping costs for each location and pay pal account for payment.

The process to make the castings is very traditional which is why the pieces of the model will be served with primer ready to paint, and also the time to make the castings are very laborious.

Thanks to all

Don't worry and take your time...I would rather have something that's done the right way and with care, than something that's rushed and has a lot of flaws. I think that many of the people that want this model share my opinion about quality and care. Also I know how much work it is to cast something and that it can take some time to do it correctly, as I've done some resin casting myself (and I don't have professional equipment and have done everything by hand). One thing is certain, this model is going to be great.

Still a WIP but I have done the magnet bit, used 2 and 3mm magnets, I don't mind the hair line cracks as it will be used in games, and it can still packed in my foam case, some of the tentacle's can be inter changed or turned around, so set up to suit your self.

Just received mine...really good cast and sculpt. One of the smaller tentacles broke of during shipping because there was a small bubble of air trapped inside...realy easily fixed with some glue and Green Stuff.
Thanks a lot for this great model and I'm looking forward to paining it (could take a little while though).

Not necessary and no problems...it's one of the tentacles on the main body, not one of the loose ones. As I've said, it's an easy fix. After I've fixed it it won't be visible anymore.

The "masked ghost" is bigger than I realized and looking very k00l. The dogs are also nice for being simply "pariah dogs" instead of overmuscled and -trained killer beasts with spike collars. Neither are very Lovecraftean of course.

Got mine this week and hafto say Im pleased with them, the dark young one was bigger then I tought :) The only problem I had was that one of the legs were sligtly crooked but fixed that by having a small pice of rock on the base so it looks like its standing on it.

veeeery nice!

I was just thinking of how to paint my miniature. This got me a few ideas. Btw, what material is the casts? they feel kind of rubbery not the resin type what I've been used to.

Lovely models, but might a new thread be a good idea?  I can't trust myself to remember in future that that nice Cthulhu in Africa stuff is filed under "Venice"!

(Great picture, too , Cherno.)

I love your interpretation of this monster - wonderfully menacing and dynamic! I have the RAFM one, which I had been hesitating to paint because I felt I wasn't ready. But within days of having placed my order with you, I assembled the RAFM dark young and painted it - just as an exercise before painting your version!

Great atmosphere in the scenery on that first post photo, by the way!

Great looking Dark Young model!  I really like the vibe of Carnevale too, and have been trying to resist the temptation to buy a book and some starters.

Looking forward to seeing your new site.

Horrible looking beast. Sort of a c*unt-mouthed nightmare. It was a while since I saw one of those here on LAF.

I love that Dark Young model and I've been after something like that for a while now. Are they still for sale as I couldn't see them in the store anywhere?

Might need to wait a couple of weeks until I'm back from holidays, but I'd def buy one.

I'd really love to get in on some of the Carnevale figures. I've read the rules a few times and the game system sounds simple and solid. BUT, their figures are damnably expensive. Even with the free boosters and stuff it's still really pricey. :(
