So as it's hallowe'en I thought it was time to raise the dead. I decided to use up some of those clix figures that would have been consigned to the graveyard at the back of the cupboard. As I was going to be resurecting corpses there was only one way for them to come back, Zombies! >:(
So here are the first four painted of the 10 conversions I did yesterday, the beginnings of my own Black Lantern corps.
Black Lantern Kal-L, superman of Earth 2
(Started life as a DC clix Damage)
Black Lantern Professor Zoom
(Started life as Marvel clix Quicksilver)
Black Lantern Hawkman
(Started life as Marvel clix Daredevil)
Black Lantern Firestorm
(Started life as DC clix Booster Gold)

The team so far. Bases to be finished but I'll do them all together when the rest of the team are painted. Zombie parts are all from Mantic games plastic kits.
Happy Hallowe'en all!
Soaps.

Some lovely work there, soapy!
:-*
Love the colour scheme.
There seems to be quite a few clix-repaint projects popping up at the moment.
Note to self; 'Stop looking at them! They will make you want to have a go yourself!'
As this does.
Looking forward to more.....

Excellent wok Soapy. You realise there are possibly hundreds of minis you will have to do to create the set right...? ;D
-
I particularly like Hawkman. Great work !
-
Very impressive conversions...! :o
-
Awsome, look forward to facing them.

You shouldn't.... >:D

Creepy kooky spooky ooky!
The Daredevil -> Hawkman conversion is particularly impressive... I'd never have guessed the source figure :)

Brilliant work. Thanks for all the recent Lantern Love. I'm a big fan of all the different corps and the Blackest Night story arc was my all time favorite.

The next four are done now too and will be up soon. There were originally going to be 10 but the Dr Light and Captain Boomerang clix are just so very bad figures I couldn't bring myself to include them.
Greens are next and maybe Reds. There will definitely be one of each colour for a new guardian style team, probably both the blackest night team and the DCnU version too, especially seeing how issue 2 ended, can't wait to see what's in store for Kyle.

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing them. I hate to admit it, but the DC reboot has given me even more resaon to quit buying comics. I haven't purchased or read any of the new titles. I hope DC profits with it, because I want comics to be a lasting part of the Western pop culture landscape. But, I personally hated that they did it.

There are plenty who feel that way and I don't blame anyone who does. Lots of people are unhappy about the reboot and the fact that it seems to have changed some things but not others. The lantern continuity was largely unaffected by the reboot due to the fact that most of the story is based off Earth and so the Flash's actions in changing history would have little impact on what has gone before.
I like the fact that they can use the new timeline to tighten up the back stories and ignore a lot of what has gone before. Many of the characters have lost their baggage and so writers can tell stories without fear of contradicting past events seeing as now they may not have happened.
That being said I am a died in the wool DC fanboy and so pretty much let them get away with anything... :)
More Black Lanterns soon.

I hadn't heard that Lantern stuff was largely unchanged. Might have to check it out now. Thanks for the tip.

Amazing Soaps, I think colours and execution are spot on.
Not to derail but I too am smarting a little from '52', I'm a big Batman family fan and have a huge amount of time for Red Robin, (Tim Drake the Third Robin), The way that title was wrapped up was utter tosh, add further insult to injury, Tim's new costume in Teen Titans loses the dark brooding elements of Red Robin and is well just plain silly, batfink styled feather wings are l'ike a shield of steel!'
Anyway who's next on the list?

Well done on the conversions.

Inspired mate! :o :o :-* :o

Brilliant. The silver really shines on their uniforms. What brand of paint did you use?

Revell Aqua color. Little square blue pots that I got from Modelzone. They have a really great selection of metallic paints that seem to have a massive flake count. You just get a really strong even metallic colour even when they are really thinned down. Best metallics I have ever found although I have only ever used their 'white' metal colours.
-
Lovely little crew you have there. How do they play? Are you going to use them in a super hero game or in a zombie oriented set?
-
Nice ;D
-
More great work there. It would be great to continue to see this project grow. Or rise as the case may be.
:)
-
Cool idea there Soaps - the froth is strong in this one ;)
-
:-* :-* :-*
AMAZING!
I love the effect you are getting from your paintjobs.
Superb!
-
Excellent, lad. I really like the tokens but they all look cool. Are you going to do Black Hand as well? I am pretty sure there is also the martian manhunter as a black lantern.
-
Superb. And very much looking forward to Crossover...
-
Absolutely delightful idea. Nice colour-scheme, too.
Now, where did I put my blasted Superfigs...? ::)
-
No idea what's going on in the DC universe but those figs look great. Freehand on the costumes is excellent.
-
Superb!
I like it a lot :-*
