Sorry if this has been asked before.
I've some older fantasy (25mm) miniatures (for example some from the Runequest box sets) and was hoping to start up a dungeon project. My brother bought some Reaper mini's the other day and they tower over the old sculpts!.
Has anyone put together some suggestions for fantasy figs that scale together?
I'm particularly interested in old school D+D style figs and love what I've seen of Otherword and Reaper so far.

All quite cheap and for the most decent minis. Regarding scale I'm not too sure, as I have mainly 28mm, and that 3mm can sometimes be noticable at other times hardly noticable, so I'll let someone who knows the Runequest minis answer that.

"Deeper" basing sometimes compensates for height differences.

I've found that the differences with scale from 25-28's diminish with universal basing. It helps to draw the eye away from the height differences if the bases are the same. It makes the figures look "intentional" together. I've also found that role-players are less concerned with the differences than Wargamey grognards.

I am a wargamer primarily but I do find the difference in size between the old mini's and the Reaper ones a bit much. To look compatible I think the old mini's would be standing on a box (Alan Ladd anyone?)

Scale has always differed within the stated scales as long as I can remember. 25mm ranged from about 23mm to 28 or 29mm. 28mm seems to go all the way up to 35mm. I even have a Reaper zombie that stands 42mm tall. I really like the figure but he is just too dam big. I do mix scales. If you mix them enough they don't look to bad together. Especially if you are talking fantasy races. even people come in different sizes. I am 5'6" & my younger brother is 6'4" tall. In scale i'm about a 25mm & he is 30mm. Build up the bases under the shorter figures if you want. The more you mix the better they will look together.

I have some pics at home showing a similar thing. The older grenadier and Ral Partha miniatures are truer to 25mm that the newer "heroic scale" which are 28mm or so. I also noticed that some miniature lines are topping 32mm now.
It is not the height though, the figures have bulked up as well. The Reaper barrow warden I am currently painting is almost a half again as big as the Grenadier female paladin I painted last week.
It is getting harder to mix up the miniatures now when a modern halfling cast is as tall as a older 25mm human figure. :)

Thats what I mean - I honestly don't think some of these 32mm huge humans can pass muster alongisde old 25mm humans. Just building up the base doesn't help cover the enormous difference. Which is why I asked if anyone does know which manufacturers are best matched together?

I find that the following human figures can be used together quite happily:
80s/90s Citadel
Black Tree Design (HYW, anyway - they're the only ones I have)
Curtey's miniatures
Some of the old Grenadier women sculpts from Mega Minis (I figure they should be a bit smaller as dainty ladies ;))
Mantic games skeletons
As for monsters etc, they'll all be odd shapes and sizes compared to 'people' so go with what you like the look of.

Go get the Guthrie Grenadier line from Mega Miniatures! The models are more or less proper 25mm, it's an old line of figs and should fit in well with the stuff you have around. Also, the models are (for the most part) fantastic sculpts!
