I have recently been asked to do a small commission for a fellow Chaos Dwarf junkie who liked the MM90s of mine that he saw. But he didn't ask me to paint more CDs for him...he already had a complete set painted....he asked me to paint some of the chaos warriors that the MM90s were modeled after....So he sent up a box with the warriors and the corresponding MM90's that he had already painted. I used his models for inspiration in completing the Warriors. here are some shots of the first three with their CD counterparts...more pictures on my blog.

Love those metallics! :-*
-
Great work, Blue! :-*
I thought I was a bit of an old-school geek, but I did not realise that that particular CD range were mini-me's of their taller cousins. o_o
Superb!

very nice :)
the fig in scale armour(pic 2 on the left), is my fave

Great work, Blue! :-*

Ah great...yet more evidence that I'm an even larger Geek! lol that won't surprise the wife any!
Not all the MM90s were modeled after their larger brethren...but enough to make it quite interesting...I pulled this picture together in hurry but it gives you the comparisons side by side

I have to say that I prefer the MM90s in most cases...the beard breaks up the massive amount of armor a bit...but both are fun to paint.

Nice bit of painting there Blue. :-* :-*
-
Thanks for the comparison pics, Blue.
May have to look out for some of them.
I have a couple of the CW's, a mini-me of one of them would be great!
Hmmmm.........

Wow, I never knew that either. Great work on all of them! I love the purple/red armour especially!
-
I love the way you do your metalwork; it has a tremendous depth to it. All VERY WELL DONE!
-
Nice models, even nicer metallics! I wonder why GW withdrew the old metallic purple, green, blue etc? Is that what you used?
-
Like this mini-project of yours - and the painted examples looks (as usual) great. Like your I do rate the MM90 much higher. Aly M. did a great job doing the Marauder Chaos Dwarfs - and their 25/28mm versions don't match their quality, IMO - but still nice seeing somebody actually taking this challenge. We (the guys at Chaos-dwarfs.com) have spoken of this often, but not many have completed this research by actually painting them all. Will be interesting seeing if you complete this task :P

thanks mate! The Dwarfs are painted with the old Citadel colored metalics but as I don't have access to them I am making do with my normal silver armor technique and some washes...mostly reaper...seems to working so far but I'm not happy with the blue one I'm working on right now.
@clam...Well this task I have to finish as its a commission...and I have already recieved payment....in the form of old lead! so no choice there. I have also begun to assemble these figures for myself...when I paint up my version I plan to add GS beards to the Chaos Warriors as they will be part of my Chaos Dwarf warband....with the dwarfs in command!

I finally got found some time to get a few more of these painted up...

tsk tsk... bad boy, I'm quite certain I have already told/shown you this for a fact...
Great job Blue! Really like the job of these and good too see you are working on these :-*

Great to see the old Chaos figures from 'when I was a lad'!?!
Good job. Well done!

Cracking work as ever Blue - never put 2 and 2 together with these little/big match-ups till you pointed it out! ::)

Here is yet another update on this commission...which I HAVE to finish before I dive into LPL entries....so the pressure is on!
This set of three sees a departure from the last six in that these have colored armor...not metallic. This is a different ball of wax to the last six...but...frankly...more in my comfort zone...as it is how I paint my own MM90s.
Here are the combo pics...detail shots of the CWs can be found on my Blog: http://bluesmarauders.blogspot.com/

VERY COOL STUFF! I love the way you've matched the Warrior colors to your own Dwarfs...the Purple Guy in particular. All VERY WELL DONE!
I take it your patron is going to be doing the base work & shields myself.
-
Yeah that right...he is taking care of the bases and shields...which is good for me...though I REALLY want to see these guys complete and based...hopefully he will share pictures.
Thanks for the kind words mate!

Looking awesome Blue. Well done. So you finally picked up the brushes again :D Perhaps I should do that, too :P
-
Great stuff, Blue!
:-*
It is nice to see an update to this commission. I prefer the non-metallics, too.
Looking forward to the rest....

Great old school colours for old scools figures. Tom notch combination. Like your painting style, Chris!

Lovely work, with nice strong clean colours.
