BLAM was an inspiration as ever. I have a big project that I'd like to work on, but I don't have the skills or experience working with foam board to give it a good shot. So instead I'm going to finish/start an older project that has fallen well by the wayside; my pulp stuff.
To start with I decided to repaint the desert board that I started a few years ago. Its a 3' by 2' board, with some sand/pva mix. I started with my regular Raw earth paint that I seem to use for everything now a days. I gradually mixed some golden sand, and Naples yellow in, drybrushing with each mixture. It may not look like it but there are about 6 'stages' of dry brushing ending with a very light brush of neat Naples yellow. I'm actually fairly happy with the result

Below is an adobe warehouse that I've been working on. Its built from foamboard, coffee stirrers and small bits of pine. Unlike other adobes that I've done, I'm fairly happy with the results. All it now needs is some filler, and then the wooden detailing glued in place.

It's designed to be some sort of secure storage area, obviously the walkways will provide some interesting gaming experiences. I'm planning on adding a removable flat roof, instead of a sunken roof.

Looking foreward to this.
I have been collecting a few bits to start a north african/arab village. Planning to use mostly foamcore and then cork floor tiles for the sturdier buildings. My arab civilians arrived today :)
Ill keep an eye on your build and steal, be inspired by your good ideas ;)

Always good to see some adobe work being done. Very nice indeed, I especially like the gateway :)

Looks good :)

Great start on your building.
Like the gate with the little compound.
Look forward to seeing it finished.

Great! 8)
I wish I had the time and patience to copy some of all the wonderful ideas for arab/desert buildings in here!

So this is why we stopped at every coffee shop on the way back from London lol lol lol
Looking good. Any chance of a better picture of the board with that fancy camera of yours?

Yup! Also a friend picked me up about 100 of the stirrers the other day! So my collection is looking good.
I'll take a photo tomorrow, for you. I've also been working on several more adobes... I more of less have enough to comfortably cover the 3' by 2' board. :-) i'll include some pictures of them too (in their unfinished state)
Cheers

I have a couple you can borrow?

Well this project stagnated a bit. I put the buildings up in the loft, but before I did I took a few photos of where I'd gotten to with them. I think I'll work on them intermitantly over the next few months

The lay out as it stands. Please note I plan on drastically reducing the size of the base for the building on the bottom right of the board.
I also plan on adding a small wall and fountain to the buildings on the top right.
Also roofs still need to be created for most of the buildings.

Two textured buildings, as you can see they need some tidying up and finishing details before painting.

The two buildings at the front are more 'generic' probably will be just used as standard houses. Again still need to be textured and detailing.
