Title: LOTHS raft w.i.p./p.i.p.
Post by: Mo! on November 10, 2011, 07:24:38 PM
Today i tinkered together a raft for our new hobby... Legends of the high seas! We got 3 ships coming but wanted to start something up while the ships are enroute... tell me what you think!

Interesting :)

Why a round base ?

Were you inspired by this old painting?:

Thats looking really good already. great texture on the raft and sea.(ive got motion sickness just looking) :)

Any plans to add rope lashing or are you going to paint in nail heads? at the moment I cant see how its held together.

I'm basing my pirates on round bases so that got something to do with it... when working with filler you need a stirdy base and i had this round one lying around. Cool picture never seen it before unfortunately...

It is a 19th century painting, about a true event, I think it is in Louvre museum in Paris:

Very nice.
With all the pirate games around
should come in handy.

Looks good to me, and will no doubt be even better once painted.

Glad to see someone didn't forget to "save" the rum.......

It'll be perfect for after battle survival scenarios on the high seas, escaping blood-thirsty cannibals, or as a base to do a little "fishing" for treasure on the ocean floor.

I like the Theodore Gericault version, but I prefer this version by Uderzo:-

Great idea, and very well done by the way. Looking forward to seeing it painted.
