Title: WIP - Martian Hinterlands Cavalry
Post by: Froggy the Great on 30 November 2011, 07:49:10 PM
I thought you guys would like to follow along as I work on the cavalry for my Martian Hinterlanders army.  The riders are from Mancha's Hinterlands line, and the birds are from Reaper, with putty and wire tack.

...and here's a shot taken during conversion.  You really can't see any details at all, which is why I'm posting it second.

I like!  I don't know how those terror birds are going to feel about the original princess mounted on her fly beastie thing though.

Telepathic control, mostly.  The fly-demon is more a one-off piece and intended as a solo or character.  I could, depending on the rules used, add it in as an attached heavy support element.  Remember, the fly demon had to have the reins bolted to its carapace, and has a clockwork machine gun hard-mounted on top.  These birds are much better treated, I imagine.

Um.  http://fav.me/d3caqkz is the fly-demon to which Mancha refers.

Thank you all, very much!
If I've inspired anyone, then these are already a success.  I look forward to how you guys come up with something even cooler.

These are in line to get paint as soon as I finish my VSF Confederate cavalry (probably today or tomorrow).

Inspired? Sir Randall was positively salivating!  lol

Do you have the item ID for the Reaper raptors?

I realize the price is most daunting, especially for a conversion, but for a possible general's mount, have you seen:

Not so fond of the rider, but the fowl piques me...

I had seen that, and yes the price did indeed daunt.

Since these, I've found a mechanical mount I can kitbash, but a)it's a lot of work and b) I've already done these.
