Title: Blaze Away Spanish Napoleonics?
Post by: traveller on 10 December 2011, 04:16:52 PM
I found this blog with some pictures of good looking Spanish Napoleonics presumely owned by Blaze Away Miniatures. Their website seems to have some problems. Anyone knows if this range might be available somewhere?

It is interesting to see the number of Spanish Napoleonic ranges popping up. Do we have more than these?

Front Rank
Brigade
Blaze Away
Capitan
Perry (Carlist irregulars can be used)
East Riding
Eagle Miniatures
Redoubt

The only ones that I would add are the Mexicans from Boot Hill (quite useful for medium-late period Spanish) I am waiting to see what the figures in Summer uniforms recently mentioned in the news section on the Boot Hill site are wearing.

The main problem I have is that I dont think all these ranges work very well together because of differences in height and "heft". It is difficult to judge how big these are but looking at the picture of the one that the chap is holding and comparing when I hold a figure in the same way I think that they are about the size of the Boot Hill figures (at the larger end of "28mm").

I am certainly looking forward to seeing more about these on the Blaze Away site in the New Year.

Looks like they are available to pre-order

Range includes grenadiers and militia as well as artillery and guerillas (only pictures of the grenadier amd militia greens though as far as I can see)

I'm guessing no one carries these in the U.S.
Anyone know?

I asked them some weeks ago:

We have just sent off all the Spanish to the sculptor for some minor corrections and then to be remoulded. This should all be done and back in our hands sometime in May.

There is still hope  ;)

They do look pretty cool!

Hopefully they will fit in with some of the other ranges.

So far most of the other ranges seem pretty compatible.  The only one that I have seen so far that isn't really compatible is Eagle Figures.  They are 28mm but are extremely fine (thin) so they didn't seem to fit well with anything else that I have for the period.
