Post by: Grimm on December 09, 2007, 04:00:03 PM
Ok here is my first try to showing how to build a terrain piece .
I am a little bit afraid because my skill in english are not the best (thanks for leo )  and I have build the Palmtrees the first time (in that way ).
So please let me know if you like the report .

grimm

OK here I go

These is the ready Palmtree

I first search for some eroded fir cone´s .
In my guarden we have a lot ofthem because we have a lot of squirrel´s there .

Then I cut off the top and drilling some holes in the upper part of the Palmstump

I took my gluing gun and fix the Palmstump on a shim.

now it is time to get some fake plant .I use ,for the Palmtree, plants made from textiles

take off the  foliage,

make some cut´s in the foliage.

gluing the foliage in the holes Palmstump .

the big ons down and the small foliage more to the top of the stump

last thing to do is make some sand at the shim and pant the sand.
you also can make bigger bases with plastic card.

as the last touch I also paint the foliage a little bit and gluing some grass at the base .

Brilliant Grimm, and very understandable too  :)
In fact the instructions are so good you won't get too many commissions, I'm afraid...
Pine cones - brilliant! Now the problem is we have no squirrels in Malta, so I have to import some...

PS - nice pirate too :)

Grimm, this "how to" makes palms that are more realistic looking :o than your previous one earlier in the year (or maybe it was last year).  Your scenery is awesome and I really enjoyed playing with the scenery you traded mark for the airplane.  He used them in the first FW report he posted not too long ago.
