Title: New Questions
Post by: mdomino on 20 December 2011, 10:35:40 PM
Hi. Have been playing a lot of Strange Aeons lately- 5 games on Sunday with our group. I've been peering through the books lately, trying to develop some new tactics. Couple questions.
1. Can the sniper use the bolt action rifle when alert- this seems to violate the stipulation in the alert rule?
2. In the scenario treasure hunting phase, can some models search for map pieces while others search the treasure, strange old man's body, etc? Or, is it a binary choice- you either search for map pieces or 1 roll on the scenario table for the team? In the scenarios Body Snatchers and The Restless Dead it seems you could have models doing both.
3. When a lurker model has a die value in its stat line do you roll a new value each time you use the stat, or do you generate the stat once before the scenario starts? The conglomerate is a good example; we have been rolling D3+2 every action it moves.
4. A character unfortunately has ballistophobia- does he test every time he wants to fire weapons or just the first time in a scenario?

Questions answered...hopefully correctly. It's a bit late and I'm full of Baileys...here goes...

1. No he cannot...it violates the stipulation in the Alert rule.  ;)
2. It depends on the scenario...hopefully they are clearly stated.
3. Roll for each Action it makes.
4. Yup. Every time! Hilarious...and maddening. No one said it would be easy!

Hope that helps.

Thanks. On the sniper is the Ever Watchful text a blooper then?

No...sorry...you were right the first time. I misread the question, thought it was in regard to a Long Range Rifle. The Sniper (Special Agent...) can in fact shoot 20" due to the Ever Watchful special rule.

Still confused.... You can't give special agents additional equipment, right? He is armed only with a bolt action rifle, but he can't use that for alert fire? Thanks.

We always played he can use the bolt action rifle when on Alert.

1. It's cool (headshot!)
2. Seems the intent.

Correct Mal. Could probably use an extra sentence to explain that...

Thanks much. My buddy will not be happy to hear he must roll resolve every time for ballistophobia. He is one of those two-fisted double .45 guys, and he is unarmed due to the nightgaunt destroying his bowie knife several scenarios ago. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.....

You need the universal cure for ballistophobia!  Otherwise known as a pat on the head and the gift of a meat cleaver...
