Title: 1/56 BTR-152
Post by: CompanyB on 23 December 2011, 06:15:09 AM
One of our next modern kit releases after we get out the Mercedes iFAV.  I think someone here mentioned they wanted BTR's.  three variants in the works.  Standard, armored, and one mounting a twin Zsu AA gun.  All the doors and hatches can be modeled open or closed.

Just need to get artist to get the interior finished, and this goes to the 3D printer.  I'm hoping to have these out Spring 2012.  I'll still need to do some hand sculpted detailing on the exterior and interior.

Well, this is a suprise just before Christmas and after I sold my Syrians because of A,B and C!

Nice work Brent. Will need to find an a good reason to require one.

BTR 50 APC is a must!

Cheers,

Helen

Brent... I think... I love you.  :-*

Of course it will be lonely in the Company B range without a BTR-40...  ;)

Well, if I did the BTR 50, then I'd also have to do the PT-76!

Better convince Mike to make us some crews Helen, and get Nic to buy some kits!
The new Eureka minis do look nice.

Well, if I did the BTR 50, then I'd also have to do the PT-76!

I'd have no complaints about that... but I was talking about this...

First mass-produced Soviet APC, superseded by the BTR-152 but widely used as a scout car and weapons carrier after that.

I have a 'wants' list as long as your arm, but that wouldn't make me unique I suppose. Still everyone makes Humvees and stuff, it's just that some of us are stuck in the sixties and seventies with our gaming and are generally poorly catered for, a niche within the niche that is 28mm Moderns.

Actually the 1970's were 'Modern' when I started gaming...  :?

 ;)

The BTR 40 is a sort of a shoe in since its so small and similar in design.

Gimme a couple of weeks... And I can post a render of it.  Maybe a joint debut with the 152.

Thanks Brent. I could sort something out in that department.

I agree with Jim, the sixties/seventies is just a great period.

Now a BTR-40 would be incredibly cool. Suddenly all those half forgotten projects seem possible. BTW there was the SPAAG version with twin 14.5mm AAMG.

I have to admit that the appearance of both a BTR-40 and a BTR-152, a hint of a BTR-50 and possibly a PT-76 have really made my day. I'm desperately trying not to offload a further series of wants though.

Well, I need something in our lineup to match against all the special forces vehicles we're doing.

Plus that P4 for Carlos :P

I'll
Need to brush up on sculpting the correct add-on equipment and weapons though.

Okay, for me I'd like to see;

M41 Walker Bulldog - Should be a good seller imo.
M56 Scorpion SPAT - Might only be me that buys it.
M75 APC - Again, it might only be me that buys it.
M59 APC - Used widely by the ARVN (800+) until the M113 came along... everyone else makes M113s.
M42 Duster SPAA - When you just have to kill every last enemy figure on the table.
M38 Jeep - Essential for virtually every war including Nam.
M37 Truck - Successor to the Dodge WC.
LVTP5 Amtrac - It's big.

Unimog - Early open cab type and later models. Almost every army in Africa uses them.
Berliet Gazelle Truck - Because M35 trucks need some competition.
Panhard EBR FL10 & FL11 - Can't see this as a best seller, but I can dream can't I?
Panhard ETT - You're most of the way there if you build the EBR.
AMX13 - Uses the same turret as the EBR FL11.

GAZ/UAZ-69 - Soviet post war Jeep.
Zil 157 - Everywhere. The classic Soviet truck.
Ural 375 - Successor to the Zil 157.
BTR-60PK - The early open top APC.

I've tried to stick to vehicles unavailable elsewhere (i.e. FoA and Sloppy Jalopy) with the above and to vehicles that I'd buy at least one of, or in the case of the trucks, APCs and Jeeps, two or three at least. I'd like to think that all of them will find interest with at least a few other folk, but whether it would be enough to justify them commercially, I really don't know.

Hopefully there's some food for thought there.  :)

Discussion is always good..

We have a forum link on our site, and you can also post there for discussion as well (and we won't forget!)

I see what your doing here.  If we did the M41 Walker Bulldog, we'd have to do the M42 and M59 since they all use the same chassis and tracks...  Sneaky.
Title: Re: 1/56 BTR-152
Post by: Arlequín on 24 December 2011, 03:17:16 AM
You say sneaky, I say I'm minimizing your work load.  ;)

I'll make a point of visiting the forum, it's always good to see what other people are up to, who knows I might feel less like the odd guy who likes obscure vehicles.

 :)

An M-41? :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

There's a rare Japanese diecast circa 1/50. I found one on the web. The seller wants something in the region of $130. I almost weakened not long ago then realised I couldn't justify that sort of cash and it would require quite a bit of work to transform it from a toy.

I don't get why nobody even makes it, even in 20mm, there's only the ex-Archer Models one that is sometimes available from RH Models. You can buy some really obscure vehicles as plastic kits nowadays, but not that.  :?

Oddly enough I've seen a really nice one in 1/6 or 1/18 or whatever it is that matches those Action man type dolls. There are a couple of 1/35 scale renditions but nothing useful.

Oddly absent brigade?

Ferret. The only people I can think of, off hand are Sloppy Jalopy.

AMX-13? Everyman and his dog had them I can only think of the Dinky and Solido diecasts.

LVTP 7?

It's a long list so I won't bore people with it. I'll just be content with what Brent has been kind enough tp offer us.

Merry Christmas to all.

Years ago I had a motorised 1/48th Kit from some Japanese company. Never seen them since. Aurora used to do some nice models (or so my happy memories of yesteryear inform me), which may or may not have included the M41.

LVTP 7?

Sloppy Jalopy have this 'coming soon' apparently.

It's a long list so I won't bore people with it. I'll just be content with what Brent has been kind enough tp offer us.

I felt the same, but tried to limit it to what might be of interest to others. I'd likely find your list interesting in itself. While the hard work is churning out the model, it can't be easy wondering "Will this sell?" every time you think of producing something. People will often chip in with "I'd buy that for a dollar", so some straw poll of who wants what can be developed. Obviously producing a want list doesn't commit someone to making it, so there's no harm done.

Merry Christmas to all.

... and of course to you and yours my friend!  :)

Sloppy Jalopy doing the LVTP eh? Will this be the gift that keeps on giving? Get it one year and you're still trying to put the bloody thing to gether a year later?  lol

BTR-40 is in progress.  I should have both models out for printing by the send of the week.  I can probably had these off to JTFM for casting by Mid January.

Always a challenge to figure out initial numbers needed, so if you want one to two, please sound off so I can get a rough count!

3 X BTR 152, 1 X BTR-40 please.
Title: Re: 1/56 BTR-152

Direct, through Brigade Games, or through Wargames Command Post.  It's all the same really, as wholesale and direct orders come through the same stockpile.

I'm just interested in how many I should be getting to fill initial demand, as restocking usually takes time.  That and if folks are wanting these in groups of two, etc, then maybe I need to get enough for platoon deals.

Thanks!

Actually the 1970's were 'Modern' when I started gaming...  :?

 ;)

Course, I'm hardly the only one who'd mentioned, when they were first pushing Rocco tanks about, the '70s were still future war. ;->=

I've not played post-WWII for quite awhile, but this discussion and the thought that seems brewing is a most pleasant surprise! Where I'm now, it's all GW and FoW.

BTR-152s are pretty big too. The open top version could nominally transport 17 men. Two per platoon.

They look great. Carlos is right, the Soviets went through a phase of using two personnel carriers to a platoon, the BTR-152 and the open top BTR-60 and BTR-50 were used as 'half-platoon transports'... they were big.

Consider me 'stoked' by these.  :)

Actually, the Stryker is very large compared to the BTR-152.

I'm hoping by Spring.  I have a number of other models that are getting cast right now, so I'm hoping these can go right after.  The Lenco Bearcat for US SWAT and Iraqi security is due any day, as is the Mercedes G wagon FAV.

The BTR's will go to casting along with the US Marine iFAV and the P4.

It's casting...  I have the molds done for the body and will be doing the wheels this weekend.  This will be for a small LAF release...

New BTR-40 masters are being printed right now.

A larger company B release with a new set of moderns, miniatures, weapons, accessories and a partnered set of rules will come together this fall ;-)
