I have a sudden hankering to get a single A7V, and to set it against my three Mark IVs in a reconstruction of the first ever tank battle (well almost, I have two Males and a Female, the real fight was two Females and a Male).
Anybody have or seen any of the various kits available? I know Old Glory do one, and the photo of it looks quite nice on their UK site. Brigade make one too, unfortunately they don't have a pic of it. I know Brigade can usually be relied upon for nice things, but I have no experience of their vehicles. Anyone seen it, or played with it?
Not sure which to get. The Old Glory one would probably work out a little cheaper, due to the postage, but I'm not sure if there would be much in it. I was just wondering if anyone had any info that would help me decide which was the nicer kit?
Or indeed, if any other firms make one?

What Scale do you need?
AdHoc I know theres a 1/72 from Emhar

and a 1/35 from Tauro Model

Oh, sorry. I should've said I want it to face my Great War Miniatures Mark IVs, which are scaled to fit with 28mm figures.
Lead Adventure is so steeped in 28mmness that I sometimes forget there are other sizes of figure! :)

Don't forget you can also go the Beutepanzer route and use captured British tanks against their former owners. Far more common than the A7V as well...
-
I know that, but I'm tired of building and painting Mark IVs, and in the battle in question it was an A7V. And I want one anyway because they are so funny and useless-looking. A sort of armoured garden shed. I like that.

Theres one on Ebay atm. But in 1:35:

I can understand that - mad things.

I think the OG one is pretty small. I haven't seen it next to the Great War offering, but my guess is that it would look a bit silly.

Hi, Polynikes
I have a Tony Ashcroft (NZWM) A7V. It's a very nice model. I got mine directly from Tony, but they are currently being sold by Lon at Brigade Games:
http://www.brigadegames.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BG-T016&Category_Code=BGT&Product_Count=45
The one I got even came with a choice of skirts (or whatever those mudflap things that cover the tracks are called). Lon doesn't have a photo on his website, but my friend Dan has a posted a couple in his displaced miniatures gallery (Dan is a MUCH better painter than I am!):
http://www.displacedminiatures.com/WadesWorld/image.html?galleryId=1045&imageId=16904
This model is 1/56 in size, and is suitable for use with 28mm figures. I understand that the Old Glory model is a bit smaller, but can't say for sure since I haven't actually seen one in the flesh.
Hope that helps
Will

Ah, thanks chaps. That's the kind of info I was after. I think I'll go with Brigade rather than risk the Old Glory one looking too small and weedy.
And ta for the pic, Will. Just the ticket.

I had forgotten that Tony Ashcroft mastered the Brigade Games model. I have several of his WW2 tanks thd they are top notch. I'm sure you won't be let down.

It is, indeed, a hoplessly ugly piece of machinery isn't it?

Nope  But "armoured garden shed" fits quite well. I always thought of it as "armoured shoebox", but I'll stick to garden shed from now on.

Almost the very definition of Weird World War 1, if it wasn't real that is, lol.

I love it :)
Looks a bit like some of the German 1950s diesel shunting engines.

Hi Poly, The Brigade Model is very nice and fits in quite well with Brigade Games figures. I also have two Quarter kit 1/48th scale A7Vs of which if they haven't sold in a gaming shop I'll send you one already painted in grey with skulls ready to fight your Englander monsters :)
Let us know at your convenience as it yours free an at no charge.
Best Wishes 8)

Actually the OG ones are very nice and if anything rather big. Overall I don't like OG miniatures at all, but this is an exception.
