World at War is the May 2008 scheduled 28mm WWII skirmish game from Mongoose.
See Matt Spranges "State of the Mongoose 2007 - Miniatures": http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=31955
The design approach of World at War is not to create a historically-accurate, painstakingly-researched, super-detailed simulation of World War II infantry action.
The goal is a game that carries a lot of the spirit of the successful Starship Troopers and Battlefield Evolution games with their dedicated fan community into WW II tabletop gaming.
To have a fun, fast, action packed game that is not bogged down by endless charts, easy to learn but still have enough grit to keep you playing for months and even years to come.
That said it is obvious that the core of the rules is the Battlefield Evolution system.
The challenge was now to adjust the system enough to get a WW 2 “feel” and not to change too much.
In the last 10 months I tried to fulfil these demands by customizing the rulebook and writing the army lists.
A “normal” army is centred on one infantry platoon with transport vehicles and (depending on the army list) 1-3 tanks. The core book will be featuring late war army lists for British, German, Soviet and US forces in Europe.
The book features many missions and even a campaign system.
The actual playtesting is focussed on balancing the army lists and finding the last inconsistencies.
The ideal candidate is an active wargamer with some experience in WW2 games, is able to play at least 1 game per week and send in a report / review afterwards for the next 4-6 weeks. Some minis in 28mm for the above mentioned armies (or at least "stand-ins") would not hurt either!
The important part is “play” testing! Not only reading and commenting! IMO most loopholes are only found by playing the game.
Everybody interested send me a PM with your email. Please explain shortly why you are interested and what similar experience you have.
To participate you have to sign a NDA, after that you get the rules and lists and start testing!

It is also the name of a documentary series on WWII and most assuredly the subject of a pre-existing copyright.

I'll keep an eye on it and see what it looks like when I do a review.

Too bad it is in 28mm, had it been 15mm I would have been all over it :D
-
If it's based on the Evorules it wil probablyl run just fine for ind. based 15mm aswell :)

The default scale is 28mm. However - in fact the game has no scale.
20mm works also and - as said - if you have your minis individually based the game works also since all measurements are taken from the middle of the model.

I'm not worried at all (I've enjoyed it) since in fact this is one of the things I've been wanting to say for a long time (just like "follow that car!")...
