Title: Old and collectable miniatures
Post by: Wraith on 12 December 2007, 12:57:05 PM
I started buying minis 30 years ago. At that time, at least in Indianapolis, Ral Partha was the big name and produced the best minis.

I also have some King Arthur minis from a defunct company called "Superior miniatures" that may fit into the collectable catagory.

What are some of your favorite old/collectable minis from way back?

Metal Magic's fantasy and Sci-fi lines. Thank heavens they're coming back on the market.

The first lead minis I ever had was a Citadel boxed set of japanese-themed Hobgoblins. Still got them somewhere. Still haven't painted them!!  :)

But the figures that really pull the nostalgia strings are Airfix plastic ones. Those crazy poses! British para doing stretching excercises and another one break-dancing, Commandos carrying a canoe above their heads, Napoleonic Frenchman clutching his private parts...

Ah, happy days.

I remeber that frog. He was in the French Imperial Artillery box. When we arranged our soldiers for battle I put him against a barn wall.
