The disadvantage of white uniforms ...   ;)
Nice Unit (Victrix I think) in ragged uniforms.

These are really nice. Is that a sepia wash over the white uniforms? I love the effect. I'm looking to paint up a load of Italians for Maloyaroslavetz (there seems to be lots of spellings!) and I'm dreading the white.

Nice looking unit, I'm thinking of doing the Irish legion myself.
Thanks for the inspiration.

THX guys... now this topic really kicked off after the move!  :o

@Elk: It depends. The 4 men bases were done with a creme coloured base, highlit white, washed with Gryphonne Sepia and then highlit white again.
Since I had forgotten the skirmishers they were done in a second go. Thier basecoat was a light off white, washed with Gryphonne Sepia and highlit white.
I do not feel one can see a difference in the finished product. So if I ever expand them or tackle my Austrians I will use the 2nd method.

Cheers,

Burkhard

Burkhard,

That is a beautiful bunch of minis and very nicely painted! For your future posts it would be surely useful to post not only the link to your blog but also the pics, at least one teaser pic, you’ll see, more replies are sure then.

Keep up posting, I’m looking forward to more of your stuff.

Good tip, thanks. And I think you're right, you can't really tell the difference between the two techniques. I think I will have to give that a go (once I get past the ACW backlog and current painter's block!). Cheers
