Title: St Trinian's (RIP, Ronald Searle)
Post by: Steve F on 03 January 2012, 03:46:29 PM
Ronald Searle, one of the most brilliant cartoonists of the 20th century, has died aged 91.

There was a lot more to his work than St Trinian's (those with an interest in WW2 should check out the drawings he made while imprisoned in a Japanese PoW camp), but St Trinian's is all I've got that's relevant to this forum.

Lovely stuff.

The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery was on the Beeb last week, great fun, they don't make them like they used to lol

Fantastic models. I've only seen the new St. Trinian's movie with Rupert Evert, but it was highly enjoyable.

Oh lord, you should check out the 1950s ones with Alastair Sim. They're marvellous.

Just watched the Everret version on Film4.

Hadn't realised it was based on The Belles of St Trinians film.

Shame that RS has gone.

Do you have any St T rules?

When I was a kid I had a copy of "Naked Island" with some of his illustrations in it.
I loved that book, it gave me an admiration for Aussie soldiers and an abiding interest in nutrition  ;)

RIP Ron

...and Molesworth: "Back in the jug agane" and "How to be topp" were my survival manuals at school.

91 is a good knock but I will miss him.

Ah, the Dreadnought Motor Traction Company!

Once Gripping Beast get back from their hols, I might have a go at turning this Musketeer figure into Nigel Molesworth.  A bit of colour manipulation suggests that it should work.
