I'll be running the kit-bashing contest Trash Bash again this year. I'll be running it through February to hopefully dodge the Lead Painter's League (which I think is in March?).
First order of business is to decide what bit of junk will be the basis for the contest build. TB 2011 used a discarded deodorant container in honor of Rick Preistley's classic hover tank build. This time we need something new.
Please respond to this post with your ideas for a single piece of junk that can be used for kit-bash modeling. Try to think of things that are pretty easy to get worldwide and are something that is normally discarded. I'll post a poll in a week or so to determine what the subject of Trash Bash 2012 will be.
Take a look at last years winners here:

And the original post that started the whole thing:

Thanks!

The easiest thing to procure and probably the thing that would hold most scope for building stuff would be cereal boxes.
-
There's also plastic jugs (as for peanut butter, pickles, sauces, etc.). Those are pretty universal, though they're kind of bland in shape (tubby cylinder).
I think Andy's voting for cereal card because we all know how good he is with it! (see the Big Ben thread). ;)
-
coke bottles(plastic)?

Dam!!....so your on to me!! That was going to be my entry! ;)
What about coffee stirrers then. I'm sure Starbucks could afford to donate to this contest! :D

Here are some ideas that sprung to mind in the empty last hour of a very quiet workday:
- Pringles tubes
- Computer Mouses
- Plastic (meat?) trays
- Plastic Bottles (as mentioned; 1/2L soda bottles, shampoo, or medicine/yakult/vitamins ones)
- Toothpaste tubes
- Blister packaging
- Plastic flower pots
- Egg cartons
- Christmas tree decorations
- Old electronics components
- Smint (or similar) boxes
- CD Jewelcases
- Toilet rolls
- Sardine tins
- Inkjet Cartidges
- Plastic cookie trays (inside packaging)
And there's more where that came from! :D

Pingpong balls?
-
Yeah; those can be used for many things... lol
-
And it has to be something other than a ground vehicle, which was last years theme

Orbital lander / Dropship? 8)

How about the all mighty noodle cup building? It's not genre specific (you can build either sci-fi or fantasy buildings with one). It's cheap as chips... or well, noodles. Also fits the theme with building on the cheap, as noodles are the king of cheap food. =)

Are pot noodles really food?

My vote for computer mouse ;)
-
Lids, of any kind, and as many as possible.
-
I think a computer mouse is a bit limited and too close to the prior year's main component. A pot noodle cup would allow plenty of artistic freedom while still giving a pretty standardized starting point. The more I think about it, the more I like it.
And no, I never eat pot noodles so I have no cups available. =) I do hold shares in a large noodle manufacturer though...

I'd love to tackle a printer cartridge. I have no idea what to make with one, and that's the interesting part; in my experience, a random object grows on you, until all of a sudden, the shape 'speaks' and all of a sudden, you know what is was always meant to be! Be that a space station, castle buttress, gyrocopter or communication device...
Oh; here's another one; disposable plastic dinner plates...
-
Could be really mean and say CDs - not to stand things on to actually be part of something but I wont lol
My offering would be a blister pack (with or without cardboard) though I do like the coffee stick idea.
-
I vote for pringles tubes and ben & jerry's ice cream tubs

Or listerine mouthwash bottles

... but then I might be a little bit biased ...

Hope he pick something soon or I wont toss anything out... hurry up trash is piling up.

A Spam can. Submitted with your best Spam recipe, cooked and pictured with your project.

Well, the two biggest restrictions are:
1) Can be used by both modern and historical/fantasy wargamers
2) Available worldwide
There should still be a fair number of things that meet that criteria.
