Well, it's all in the title, really. The word is out (though not on the Empress website, mind you), so inquisitive minds definitely want to know more.
How extensive will the range be ? Will the figures be compatible with the 26mm Perry-sculpted Foundry figures ? Will Paul Hicks design them ? Will some of the gaps in that range and Old Glory's (Governor General's Bodyguard, 4th BIC in correct uniforms and metal helmets, etc) be filled ? Will a passing Empress chance upon my post and give us the lowdown on the Sikh Wars ? ;)

Pity, I was rather hoping they would complete the circle and do Afghanistan circa 1839.

That's good news. I'm interested in British infantry and artillery for Carlist War BAL and Portuguese Civil War Liberals. The Foundry figs are a bit small compared with the new Perry and Empress ranges.

Where'd you hear this?

Liking the sound of that :)

Source is the latest issue of Wargames Illustrated. There's also a thread about it on the WD3 forum.

The old Foundry minis are lovely but they look like dwarfs next to current ranges.

If they do it should coincide with my book project, covering both wars ;) Watch this space...or one similar.
PS One can make the Gov Gen Body Guard troops, as I have the uniform info. :D

Or even better, they will go for both options....

Well that would be nice but it's probably expecting too much. The trouble with the Sikh wars is that the uniforms tend to be pretty specific, especially figures in Albert shakos. Afghanistan gives you a much wider range of options, including the First Opium War.

I agree, though the basic dollies themselves can prove very versatile. The same body in dress coatee can be used for all the conflicts you mention : Afghanistan with a covered belltop shako, the conquest of Sind with a peaked and curtained forage cap, and the second Sikh war with a covered Albert Shako. Ditto for British infantry in shell jacket : only the head needs to be changed.
Should the Empress Sikh war become a reality, the Maori War Brits can be recycled through a simple change of headgear. I like the fact they don't wear the HEIC waistbelt (which not all Queen's regiments seem to have adopted during their stint in India), whereas Michael Perry's Foundry Brits all have it.

Ah, the Scinde campaign! One of my favourites. Best military pun of all time, two very interesting major battles and a wonderful campaign setting. Alas what that really calls for are boxes of plastic Baluchis. You'd go broke very quickly picking out the usable figures from the Foundry packs. Some things may never be.... :(
I agree. What would be nice would be chaps in coatees with separate heads. Bell top shako, covered/uncovered; forage caps, plain, peaked and peaked with covers.

Don't forget the early Kaffir Wars! ;)
