The first figure for my third project for 2012, no painting at the moment, just collecting figures when I can afford them.
The first figures I will paint will be 3 French soldiers armed with muskets and 6 Arab armed with hand weapons, these I can use for small ambush scenerio's using Foundry's "Frei Korps" rules, these I will then expand, hopefully up to a suitable size for "Sharp Practice". The buildings will be made so that with the right accessories will also work in my Runequest project.
Whilst waiting for my first order from Brigade and a swap for some Arab civilians to arrive, I found this figure who with a little work could be made into a Savant, the clothing may not be historically correct, but I am sure with the right paint job will look the part.
removed side hair rolls and ribbons from back of head, green stuffed more appropriate hair style, scratch built easel.
Looking at photo's saw green stuff over eye so have removed.

I am also reading loads of background material, have already read

Free online book, a bit dated but oddly engaging and a good introduction to the period.

A brilliant book, reads like a novel and very well researched, with lots of journal entries.
just started reading this

Picked up a copy of Taschen's 'Description de L'Egypte' containing all the archeological/Flora/Fauna drawings done in Egypt by the savants as well as some drawings of the expedition, a beautiful fascinating book
and finally these two book's for painting information

That is very cool. I would love to make Napoleon in Egypt and actually it was on my list for 2010 but then I’ve started LAM.
Still hope to spare enough time one day. I’m looking forward for more, I was always very impressed with your Stalker project and I am sure this one will be something special as well.

Yes this has so mutch potential. It will be fun to follow.

I will follow your project too as Egypt is a project for 2013 for me, playing with "mousquet et Tomahawk" napoleonic's version !

Like the Prof I was very impressed when I saw your Stalkers, so I´m sure you won´t dissapoint me on the Nappies! I plan some Sharp Practice gaming with a friend too, the rules seem to work very well.
