Title: Maroubra Popular Liberation Front: 28mm Africa
Post by: Mac on January 11, 2012, 07:55:25 AM
I wasn't going to do this; honestly.

But when I was confronted by the Eureka Zanla range at MOAB this year I couldn't, and didn't resist. Below are the painted results of having bought two of the "we don't want to be vertically enveloped" deals.

That´s a great force, full of character. And I like your flexible basing-system, I should copy it I think!

And now onto the allies of the Maroubran Popular Front, the ever present Cubans. Why the Cubans are in Africa is a mystery, to historians, to academics, to Marounbrans, to the Cubans... everybody.

These figures are from the Mongrel Soviet range (via newline design's Sean Pereira). They go perfectly with the Eureka stuff, and I am so happy with them I have ordered some more.

First up, a sniper.

I look forward to the adventures of the President.
Those Cubans, maybe they are looking for a new country to export their cigars to. ;)

Great looking project, Mac.  Those Eureka ZANLA minis are superb.  So who're the enemy to be?  US-backed guerrillas?  I look forward to finding out!

The Maroubrans needed a little more fire power. Here is the superb Force of Arms T55, The peoples tank.

Here is that T55 again, this time supported by some Cuban infantry. Fighting to keep Africa... well, um..., free of..., er... Anyway, these figures are actually 10th company from Mongrel Miniatures (bought from Newline Designs.

Here's hoping for a scenario where the rebels attempt to capture the radio station and shoot Alan Jones into the bargain. Brigade Games have some parrots in their Caribbean Empires range.  ;)

As with all new models, the T55 first outing ended in disaster.

Having painted them, I suppose I should take some pictures of the opposition Portuguese and their Rhodesian friends (stooges) at some stage.
