Looks to me like a copy from plate 3b in Performing Circus Volunteer Units during the American Civil War (2): The Union.
Although if I'm honest I'm not convinced the Tesco ammo pouches were issued until after Gettysburg.

That could be - allegorically - historical: in the ACW an old general, who did not like modern fashions, said to a Zouave officer that he looked like "a circus clown"...  lol

(I think I've read this in some Osprey).

I bet his bread-bag is a hamburger-bag?

Nearly, it's chicken nuggets, intended for launching at overweight enemy troops when things get desperate, distraction is an oft employed tactic in the clown theatre of war don'tcha know!

Yes, we like our little traditions here on the LAF. And with three examples I think it is now firmly established.

The LAF Aldi bag club never quite caught on, though...
