Title: FIW, another sideproject...
Post by: Engel on 16 January 2012, 01:38:05 PM
After some time as a sideproject I think the project has come to the point that I can finally show some pictures from my French and Indian war project.

A little longer introduction to the project can be found at.

The first miniatures to march out in front of the camera are my rather small British force.

You are off to a good start.
Fine painting on the figures.
What's next, settlers?

Very nice start.

Yup, Ron Embleton illustration from Look and Learn, he was brilliant, and had a soft spot for the French & Indian War, my boyhood hero.

Of course, what you need now are some Canadian Milice, Anglo-American Settler, Rangers .....  lol

Those look like some nice 15mm. I'm already doing the Blue Moon AWI range and have about 80 figures per side for FIW in 28mm or I'd be tempted to get some myself. (Actually, I'm using some of the Indians for my AWI project and will probably get a bit of the terrain for good measure.)

Ex-cellll-ent!  And in my scale, too.  The bases make a statement.  Keep on going.  It's an addictive period.  Someday I'll have to take - and post - pictures of what I have.  Not so nice a paint job but worth a look for the variety and diversity I've amassed.

What are they based for?  Specific rules, or just the way you like?

Thanks guys.

The miniatures are based in a little mix of games. Its mostly a mix of Gå På and DBA. 4cm frontage and 4 miniatures on a base as in Gå På and DBA, skirmishes as psilois in DBA.
I intend to use the miniatures with the Black Powder rules. I change all the measurements from inches to cm to game in 15mm.

And my basing standard for Black Powder this will mean.
Tiny: 1 base with 4 miniatures, or skirmishes on 2 bases á 2 miniatures.
Small: 2 base á 4 miniatures, or 4 bases á 2 miniatures.
Standard: 3 base á 4 miniatures
Large: 4 bases a´4 miniatures

I have to date just tested this in a handful of games and I think it works. Im considering enlarging a “large” unit to maybe 5 bases or so, but I don’t think that would be really necessary.

I took some photos of my frontier militia.
They could be used as either French or British I guess which make them useful in more games.
Miniatures from Blue Moon.

Last weekend I played Empire total war, first time in ages it felt like. And that was all it took to inspire me to finish of some half painted French and Indian war miniatures.
http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/2012/10/fiw-british-colonials.html

Stupid game… ;D  All of a sudden the clock was in the middle of the night and I brought forward an halfpainted collection from the lead pile.

Some British Colonials and militia.
Miniatures from Blue Moon.
