Cult Of The Black Goat! Cult Of The Black Goat! Cult Of The Black Goat!
Soon shall this nefarious organization grow and spread across the globe! Be watchful and count yourself among the ranks of the chosen! See our masters rise and wear your t-shirt, sport your Cult Membership card and number and enjoy exclusive miniatures and content!!!
What am I on about? Four simple words friends, said thrice for effect...
Cult Of The Black Goat! Cult Of The Black Goat! Cult Of The Black Goat!
-
Membership cards? Guess the nefarious cults of old have gone with the times :)
Btw, four words?!?
-
Sounds nice...how do I join?
-
Where do I sign up?
-
Sounds good, tell us more!
-
Ïa!! Ïa!! Shub-Niggurath!!
-
More news soon to come...and yes, I guess it is five words...
-
Personally I prefer Cult of the Blue Oyster ;)
So are there gonna be any minis of this cult? Or is this just a promotional thing?
-
Now that you mention it a few minis of Blue Oyster Cult would be totally awesome, Dude... ;) :-I
But seriously, the plan is every year we will release a C.O.T.B.G. exclusive mini...all Cult members will receive it free with any purchase made in that year. No telling what models will be made. This year we will be giving out two minis...but enough about that...'official' announcement coming soon...along with the greens of the minis...
-
Some more details! I'm still working on getting the "official" info written for our website, but here's the basic deal:
Starting next week, we'll be selling memberships in the Cult of the Black Goat. Your LIFETIME membership includes:
- A stylish Cult of the Black Goat t-shirt (white logo on black, available in M, L, XL and 2X)
- A uniquely numbered Cult Membership card, printed on sturdy plastic
- Twice annually (on the Equinoxes), a PDF Cult newsletter, featuring experimental rules, product previews, and whatever other mad ramblings we put to paper
- A new exclusive Cult miniature each year.
For our inaugural year, we have TWO exclusive figures: male and female captured Threshold Agents.
Our plan is to have a "pre-order" price of $50 in place until March 20th. On the 21st (Equinoxes are the Cult's big days), the regular price ($60) will kick in, the first newsletter will be delivered, and Cult packages will begin shipping. Our plot for world domination begins! MUHAHAHAHA!!!
Err, whoops, pretend you didn't read that last bit.
And yes, I know the Spring Equinox is actually on the 20th and Fall on the 22nd. But we're calling it the 21st each year, because it's easier! :D
-
Sounds good, I'm in :D
-
World domination it is! I'll definitely join the Cult.
-

So... if we buy in, we get the free miniature with any purchase made in the first year? Here's a question: Do we only get the promo miniature once, or would we receive the free miniatures with EACH purchase we make?
-
Nice!! The Great Mother would be proud of you!! Ia Iaaaaaaaa!
-
Looks like I need to scrounge up fifty bones.....pronto!
-

In this case, because everyone is a new member this year, you'll receive a package with your t-shirt, card and minis. Next year, and all years thereafter, the first order you place after March 21st will have that year's promo model included for free. One model per year per cultist!
-
I should also like to add that while I will try to remember who has already gotten one it is quite possible that if you order a few times in a year and are a member that you may receive the models multiple times...I mean well, but am quite mad...
-
Excellent idea you have there, and certainly something I'll be joining (after all who can say no to world domination schemes ;) ) and the minis looks great :)
An option for a larger t-shirt would be swell though, for us plus-size cultists ;)

True enough, I stopped wearing Levi 501's years ago, now they are 97501's...I have my own zip code for heavens sake! lol
-
The shirts will be available in sizes up to XXL. Should we get some that are bigger than this as well?
-
Awesome news this. I love black goats...sure I'll join!
-
Just talked with the shirt guys and we can do shirts all the way up to XXXXXXL (6XL)...as I have to order the shirts 'up front' I was wondering is XXXXL (4XL) a good size? Or should we go all the way up to XXXXXXL (6XL)?
-
6XL?!?!??! Damn that's suitable for big ol' Cthulhu himself, ain't it? Didn't even know shirts were made in that size.
-
Personally I would like to have up to 4XL available, I would even pay extra for it as it's not that many who use that size I would guess. :)
-
4XL if any cotton is involved! :D
-
Praise Cthulhu! We shall have those shirts in 4XL as well! Husky guys can be just as evil as anyone else! ;)
-
When will this be available to order?
-
Praise Cthulhu! We shall have those shirts in 4XL as well! Husky guys can be just as evil as anyone else! ;)
Indeed, we just hide it behind a care-bear exterior ;)
-
Membership pre-sales will begin February 1st (tomorrow!). The actual packages will begin shipping on or around March 21st.
-
Or you could order right now, seeing as it's posted to the webstore a wee bit early. Look under Strange Aeons -> Fun Stuff ;)
-
Yay! fun stuff ordered ;)
-
yup, couldn't resist, despite the website and paypal trying to not work together,
( probably the work of a rogue threshold agent)
got it through on my third attempt,
regards
jim
-
What are the sizes in inches or cm please.
-
Just donated to the Cult.
-
I want to join...but when the site goes to Paypal...it does nothing :(.
*cries like a baby*
I wannaaaaaaa join in....waaaaah...
-
This seems to be a recurrent issue, and I can't sort out where the problem lies. We've had issues around sluggish response with that webhost since day one though, and I'm planning to migrate the store elsewhere soon.
In the meantime, the only immediate solution seems to be to try again.
UPDATE: Fixed a minor error that the site was returning. Can't see how it could have interfered with checkout, but it may stop the white screen issue
-
I kept getting a message that the ' site could not display
as it is not configured for "frames" ' whatever that means,
hope that might help Lidless.
But as i say, using my usual brute force approach, i just kept
re-trying and it went through third time.
Regards
Jim
-
I'm having same issue but it's not letting me complete the checkout and go to PayPal. I'll try again tomorrow.
-
From the web site: "A sturdy plastic Cult membership card, emblazoned with your unique ID number. Show your card to Uncle Mike at conventions and official events to receive a 10% discount!"
Unless Uncle Mike is coming to Victoria, Australia I won't be able to use this... and chance of 'cultists' in other parts of the world getting 10% off an order instead? Even if it is a discount that can be used once a year for example?
-
Sounds like far too much work...how about I pop in a few extras for Cult members when they place an order... :)
-

With a buisness model like that I fear I might need to join in as well, you know, just to make sure a fellow LAFer wont go down from his own evil/good nature.
-
What size in inches is X-large please, cant order till I know the size
-
I suspect Mike is waiting to receive the sizing info. The shirts are being made at the moment, so we don't actually have them on hand just yet.
UPDATE: Think I just found the problem, and it's actually to do with strange-aeons.ca. Those of you coming through the SA site and clicking on Shop are coming in with a "masked" domain. PayPal gets confused and thinks you're trying to scam it, and refuses the connection. I have to sort out how to get that host to stop masking, which will fix the problem. In the meantime, go directly to www.unclemikesworldwide.com to access the store. Should correct the issue entirely.
-
I came to the shop through strange-aeons.ca and I didn't have any problems and Paypal accepted the payment. I'm using Firefox 6, so maybe could it be a browser problem? I had a problem with Tengu Models using Firefox, it messed up the cart and when I used Internet Explorer, everything worked perfectly.
-
Huzzah!
-
Finally went through and PayPal have accepted my cash. I have same issue as Sheerluck- I'm in Sydney so doubt I'll ever be at an official event or US con. A few extras sounds great though- appreciated.
-
Truth be told, the 10% off deal is really just meant as an extra novelty throw-in, not a key element of the package. We currently attend a grand total of three conventions each year, in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, and I'd be shocked to see more than one or two cards flashed between the three of them! After all, 95%+ of our player base isn't in our neck of the woods, so don't feel like you're missing out or losing value on the membership by not being local. The core of your Cult benefits are the promo figs and the newsletters, and as Mike said, he's prone to inadvertently throwing extra things into packages now and then ;)
-

A little off topic, but which convention in Vancouver do you attend?
-
A little off topic never hurt anyone! Technically in Burnaby, I suppose, but Mike has been at Trumpeter Salute the last two years. We also attend the Comic & Entertainment Expo here in Calgary and MayDay in Edmonton.

You're the man! It worked and I paid for my membership...cost me some nice and cheeky virgins, but all worth the time. Now time for a clean robe...
-
Here is a shirt sizer for the shirts we are using...
http://gildan.com/distributors/catalog/productSpecs.cfm?lang=en&id_catalog=en&id_product=2000
Hope that works...
-
Looking at some of those sizes, I'm thinking that I can make one into a 'Cult of the Black Goat Beanbag Chair'.
-
Happy to see that's the brand we've wound up with. VERY sturdy shirts, and sensibly sized. None of that fitted-for-skinny-hipsters nonsense *cough*AmericanApparel*cough*
-
Will there be an official Cult of the Black Goat handshake?! Ceremonial hats?! :D
Although a T-shirt and membership card would be much more incognito...
ah well, I'm in...first the Sith and now this.. ::).
-
Perhaps something like this would be appropriate...

I will join once I get a book and get into the game...just gotta get some money...
Uncle Mike should post Cthulu for President on his website!

Uncle Mike how about this: make a "Possessed Candidate" or "Hybrid Candidate" figure for a giveaway! Since we are in the election year! It would be a scream!
-
Alas, there won't be an election on our side of the border for another three years....

You are in Canada right? At least you guys can "no confidence" some idiot out of office....we are just stuck with them....
-
Uncle Mike,
Posted this on the Q&A for Ant's post but had this idea:
Will any of the prior special edition models be availiable to buy? Perhaps as a Cult members only special offer for those that miss it?
I was thinking, if you have a # on the card or email out in a newsletter the secret code. Then members can back order the limited edition models on the website and give more value to the membership offer. I hated I missed several including the zombie for Halloween and those prior.
-
That's a really interesting idea and I'm all for it although I can't speak as to the complications in trying to modify a web store to allow that sort of thing. Great idea though. It has my vote if it can be done.
-
It's definitely an interesting idea, but would present some challenges in the shop. The webstore can handle coupon codes, but I don't think it's possible to make an item only available by coupon. What I can do is set up group pricing of some sort, such that Cult members would be able to purchase specified items at a reduced price. So the models would be available to everyone (I can't hide items selectively), but the price for non-members would be considerably higher.
One major catch I can see is that I'd have to manually add users to the Cult members list, so you wouldn't be able to purchase a membership and discounted promo models in the same order.
-
Some painted captive agents! Not my best work (and I missed a rather glaring mold line), but at least it gives you all a look at the models in something other than a green state:

-
Very nice stuff! Should add some brown spots to the back of the pants....I know if I was hog tied and hooded being held by a bunch of Cthulu cultists I would have! lol

lol lol
a fez ... what a wonderful idea
A black fez with the logo of the black goat. Why not, I'm for it ;D
Paypal went through without problems. I must say I have a very interesting order number *grin*
A little off topic .. yesterday evening I saw a very interesting documentary about wild animals in the Himalaya .. and they started the show with a ten minutes footage of Himalayan Goats. Now THAT are some sturde sure footed beasts. And fast too (have to be because of snow leopards).
I'm proud to be a goat. So there ;D :D

My postal Shoggoth slithered by and delivered the package today. Great looking shirt, membership card and miniatures, thanks for the Maniac Santa...didn't expect that one in there.
I'm cultist No. 011 and I'll be sacrificing some Pizza tonight to celebrate.
-
Cultist number 12 checking in here. Very nice figures and shirt. I ate some shredded pork at the Vietnamese rest. this evening that was very tentacly and may have been squirming, so I gobbled it right down! Do we have 1000 young yet?

My stuff arrived today, so cultist 009 is my new alias ;)
nice shirt, the size is perfect, and of course lovely minis as always :)
-
Got mine today! Very cool!
-
Arrived today in wild wales. Very nice - love the T'shirt.
-
I already wore the shirt to work...
-
Wore my shirt out to get diapers the other day. Well worth it. New mothers with looks of disgust, revulsion and confusion. I felt 16 again! lol
-
My inaugural shirt outing was for lunch at a nice little bistro. Server didn't quite know what to do with me!
I really hadn't expected the cult logo to be so darned huge! Makes for a heck of a shirt.

Just keep waiting at your home. The police are on their way after customs random inspected the package and found the shirt. They are no doubt going to arrest you and question you about being part of some worldwide cult plot. lol

Check your mailboxes Cultists! The first issue of Fhtagn!, Official Newsletter of the Cult of the Black Goat, has been distributed. Let me know if you didn't receive your copy.

Yep got the PDF, But I think my membership card got lost on the slow boat to China, dare say it's sitting on a delivery shipping depot self.

Have to wait before I can send in my membership....money is tight...we are doing the Phase II HARP refinance and a few other home improvements...sad panda missing the first issue. :'(
-
Don't worry - you'll get the current issue whenever you get around to signing up. Still deciding whether we're going to make "back issues" available for people who sign up after Issue 2 comes out in October though.
-
Got the PDF without any problems and I like it a lot...very useful and fun to read. Thanks.

If it does not cost you anything, why not?
-
It's mainly a matter of logistics. Right now, I'm sending newsletters out manually. The more members we have, and the more newsletters are issued, the more complicated that gets! I'm investigating a way to make them downloadable through the online store upon purchase of a membership, which would be exactly the same solution we'd need to be able to sell a PDF... ;)
-
Great newsletter by the way! I really enjoyed it... Would you be interested in submissions?

Cultist number 17 has received his package! 8)
The T-shirt is not really my style though. So if there is anyone who'd like another L-sized shirt, he can have mine. Glad to help a fellow cultist out :)

Send me your address mate, and I'll send you the shirt.

I'll be honest, I haven't bough membership yet, I had to get over a hundred euros of silver for my next assignment so I am running rather low, but it would love the shirt. :D

8) Well you know .. right when I started with Miniatures there was this Guy who created and administrated minirealms. He was a US Military Guy in Afghanistan and some day he asked if someone had some interest in broken laptop parts, perhaps for SciFi scenery. I answered yes .... and that was perhaps en error. I got the parcel months later, opened of course, with a sticker: opened by customs. Since then I received more parcels with "opened by customs" than without :D My wife says often I must be on some list. lol
Oh, and I didn't receive a package yet

Chaos and bloodshed it is, and always will be :D

Actually they do have watch lists....when the scanner hits specific addresses they will pull it to inspect, maybe not open but they will inspect.

And waste perfectly good blood for rituals??? :o
-
Well, I'm sure opening up your package to discover a cult membership card and a t-shirt emblazoned with "Rebel Against Order" shouldn't do anything to harm your standing with your local customs authorities.
Oh dear....

And you actually listen to your wife???
-
You think Cthulhu is bad? Try irking my pregnant wife... I'd rather sail to R'lyeh any day.
-
Having a little spawn of my own I now need to find a place to get "Cult Of The Black Goat" onezies for babies...I'm guessing that will be a 'NO!' from your wife... :D
-
I see a "Junior Cultist" package brewing here... :D
-
I would let my son (now three years old) wear a Cult of the black Goat shirt and my wife wouldn't even mind. When he was just a baby, he already wore a Cthulhu shirt and zombie shirts...that's what you get with Metalheads and Horror fanatics as parents.
-
Package finally arrived, so Cultist #20 has received the ceremonial dress as well.
Will wear it when I'll go and sacrifice those bloody custom guys >:(
-
Make sure you use a poison coated serrated blade...those customs people are notoriously hard to pin down for sacrifices... ;)
-
Question, there are numbers on the cards right? Reason I ask is that I am going to do a drawing for "Cult only" members as part of my contest. So, I am looking for a way to verify cutlists for Threshold tracking purposes...um, I mean prize purposes. ;)
-
Yes, each card has a number printed on ;)

Cool, that is all I needed to know. While I have not joined the cult yet, figure what the hell, spread a little love! :-* of some prizes that is.... lol

yup, membership cards have a number on......hopefully this will keep us anonymous to the authorities ;)

Cultist 21 reporting
Got my package yesterday
.. after customs random inspected the package
yep. That happened too :D
I like the t-shirt. My wife like it too. Frankly though I'm not very sure about the quality. The t-shirt is very thin. I would have liked a more sturdy weaving like (commercial) Fruit of the loom(/commercial) Quality.
Thank you much
Jo
