Like them a lot, clean job on some decent sculpts.

I've been looking forward to these for a long time. I picked up the Immortal plastics and was severely disappointed.

Indeed.
But beware: 1) they are later hoplites, so don't match 100% with Ex-Immortal's, and 2) Victrix models come in many many parts, so can be time consuming to put up an army.
That said they look way better than those seen before (not to mention WF).
-
Finally!
They look superb though. I will be getting some.

They look lovely. But why disappointed with the Immortal/Warlord ones? I haven't got them but they look fine to me.
-
These look amazing. My Greek project sorted!
-
Victrix has done it again... I have been waiting for these, I guess I know what I will be painting late spring/summer. :D
-
they look lovely indeed! I very like the spartans!!
But what's wrong with the immortal ones? I really haven't seen them yet, though.

Well personally, I think their legs are too short and the poses are a bit boring and lacking in variation.
I've been waiting for these Victrix Greeks, because they look great :-*
-
and we'll wait for your painting of these!!!
-
Wooooooooh ;D Hoplomachia, here I come!
-
Nice figures and unlike their Napoleonic figures, they don't seem to suffer from the long torso, short legs syndrome ;)
-
Snazzy! :-*
Victrix seems to go from strength to strength...
-
Fantastic! Very nice detail on these! I have the Wargames factory ones, and they are
Not too bad really, but these are superb so will be getting a box!
-

Just too slim....probably more anatomically accurate than a lot of 28mm but detailing was soft for me and I prefer the exagerrated sculpts.

Personally I'd like them being more crispy in details; I see those victrix here have a more detailed armor. I also agree they're boring in their poses. Anyway they are easy to build and the parts fit well.
-
The Victrix Hoplites look swell... I wouldn't worry much about them being late or early... Research is muddy on that anyway.
-
Looking forward to getting some of these :)
-
Beautiful looking figures.
Glad I have many projects to work on,
so will not be tempted to buy them. lol
-
When I saw some of the 3ups at Salute 2010 I knew that after Napoleonics these Greeks will be my next period to collect. As I did not really want to wait I checked out the Immortals and was quite disappointed by the bad casts......
So now its back to Victrix again which I love for their possibility of many different poses although the aasembling is sometimes a bit boring for me being more a paiting than a conversion guy.
So now its just wait until they hit the shelves.
cheers Thomas

There's a discussion over on Frothers which, for once, generates more light than heat about the choices made by the designers of the two ranges:

These are gorgeous. I've been planning to pick up Tribes of Legend from Foundry and these will make a very suitable basis for some Argonauts, Odysseus' crew etc. Some of the Foundry figs are really not up to par unfortunately, or don't match the vision that I have for that particualr character. And I have a Sean Bean / Boromir head waiting for my Odysseus.... I had been considering the Immortal ones so this feedbak has been valuable.
-
These guys look pretty good to me but two things stand out to me, one is the shoulders on some of the figures looks a little off but it might just be the ways they have been put together. The second thing is separate heads for figures with long hair is a problem. The hair doesn't rest on the shoulder realistically on the Spartans.Still, these look nice and will certainly pick some up.
-
Were these available at Salute? Did anybody get some?

There was mention of the Athenians being released today, with Thebans and Spartans in the weeks ahead.
Should be interesting to hear if they have stuck to this schedule!
-
I'm not sure why so many plastic hoplons seem to be supplied with shield aprons/curtains - I thought that they were more of an Ionian thing for use against armies with lots of archers, i.e. the Persians. At least, it looks as though the Victrix ones may be separate pieces.
-
No. They failed to get them out in time for Salute. Had a quick chat with Stephen of LBM and Victrix, and he reckoned another 2 or 3 weeks...
They appeared to also have some 3-ups for early Romans or Etruscans or something on their stand too, although I didn't look too closely.

Sounds intriguing. Any pics anyone?

These ones? Scroll down the page... but they are from Warlords...

Those are some good photos there, thanks for the link.
But those are Republican Romans, I think Captain Blood was talking about very early Romans (Roman hoplites, in fact, from the sounds of it).
-
Yes, these were definitely Italianate troops on the Victrix stand, not Warlord's.
They looked like early Republican Roman types to me - but to be fair, I only had a quick glance. I definitely saw sticky up feathers though, which always says Early Roman to my untutored eye...
Maybe they were Volscians, Samnites or something along those lines ;)
-
Anybody know if these will fit in ok size wise with the Foundry Greeks?
-
Don't think they've been seen in the flesh yet, only as 3 ups.
-
Ok thanks. Got quite a few Foundry so I've got my fingers crossed I will be able to mix them, time will tell.
-
Any word on the release date?
Also, have any details come along on the Romans/Etruscans?
-
I've been wanting to have a go at the Hoplomachia for some time. If the figs are good I may start building some units for the Peloponnesian war.

In my wargames illustrated they said the Greeks should be released this summer, no exact date Im afraid.

It gets closer and closer...

-
Wow..so awesome :-*
-
Oh no! I already have so many projects and so little time!
But these are just too good!
-
By golly these look good. I've no use for them whatsoever, but I fear I shan't be able to resist a box just to make and paint a few :)
-
Haha, that’s just great. I know that feeling.
I absolutely have no use for these, I have plenty of other projects.
But why o why do I want plastic Greeks now?
-
Hmm...these might work for a little Magna Graeca action in Sicily.
-
At last!

That's what I'm going to do with them, they will be a part of my coming Pyrrhus project :)
-
They are really very nice, but would make the "button" shields on my Foundry WotGs look a little bit sad, by comparison... :-(

I couldn't have put it better myself!

These will fit nicely into my burgeoning Macedonian army - much nicer than the Immortal ones.
Has anyone seen the sprues? Victrix normally squeeze masses of stuff onto the sprues and I can only imagine these will be the same.

More miniatures then you could paint in a lifetime... :o

Now that is an awesome deal!

Awesome deal indeed. But who the hell puts a Greek army of 480 hoplites on the table??? :o

Two armies of 240 hoplites ;)

I only have to find 9 others Hoplite fanatics...

Is the deal just for 10 boxes of the Athenians or can you mix them?
If mixable, you just have to look for 8 more fanatics ;)
-
Crazy deal..I would be happy if I could paint 48 models from one box. But 480.. It's like the climbing of Wargaming Everest :)
