Title: Domus Romanica Kits
Post by: Hammers on 06 February 2012, 02:38:10 PM
Alex, not *exactly* what you are looking for but are you familiar with Domus kits from Spain? They make some *very* nice kits with bone fide, real micro bricks. They have several roman and romanesque buildings in 1:50 to 1:65 scale.

Some of them could with a little addition work as fortified villas.

Well, they aint cheap. I got an English villa and it set me back about €40. The modelling possibilities are vast. Just imagine what you can do if you model some scaffolding around a part of the building and leave a part above it half finished and heaps of bricks on the ground.. There's a piece of story telling scenery right there! Romans trying to establish themselves across the Rhine by building villas.

Great idea to make a building site, like it.

No, at an idiosyncratic hobby store in Uppsala, Sweden. I'd love to make one of the Romanesque churches but I really refrained from buying it as I did not have an immediate use for it. Got other projects to finish first...

EDIT: I was/am keenly interested in this one:

It's 1:65 but I think that by enlarging the doors, one can make it work.
