Hi!
recently i stumbled on this wonderful (and very simple) tutorial on Triplozero.
It's in italian, but it worth a google-translation for shure!
http://www.triplozero.com/joomla/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4789
Inspired by this, i wanted to improve the technique a little bit, and that's my results!
I used some thinner styrene rods, in order to have a more realistic corrugated iron
(http://i41.tinypic.com/9ireat.jpg)
With other shapes of rods and planks, i obtained those surfaces. Good for container's walls or a modern tin roof!

I'm askin' the permission to make a proper tutorial, with more shapes and consideration about those shapes. Just take a look on that forum, is simply amazing!
Cheers
Jack

Now that is just what I had been looking for.... :-*
Could you post pics of the jigs you used for the container wall sheet?
-
Thanks Mod!
i will, when my camera will turn back to life! =)
-
Guess what those pre-moulds are for...

lol
Actually, those pieces are NOT meant to be casted, it is just a middle step for the sculpting!
-
Interesting stuff indeed!
What's that material you're shaping? Looks like extremely thin sheets of copper...?
-
Great idea.
Where do you buy this metallic sheet and what is the correct name for it ?
-
Thanks! =) The sheet is a thin copper panel, you can find it in any craft - art shop, it is used for art bumped drawings, so it's pretty comon to find! =)
The basic idea is from TriploZero, now i've made some more jigs to obtain different shapes. A container is gonna be sculpted from those panels. =)
Cheers
-
Thanks. The container is very clever idea.
-
Some news: i've made the moudls, now the corrugated panels are ready.
Gonna work on them to make a proper container. Hope to keep the quality high! =)

I printed it many times to choose the best pieces for the actual mould! And i will have to make the piece more than one time (cuz i'm just experiencing), so... many pieces are better than one!!
cheers

Those are great. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
-
here's more, where i've come so far. Due to a little flue i'm stuck in Milan, so i sculpted a little more:

Still missing the most detailed sides (the doors and the base), plus some detailing on the metal parts.
cheers,
Jack

SWEET!!! :D :D ;)
-
looks cool:)
will u sell it after u cast it?
-
I will for shure. There's a company interested at the moment, i'll see what we will decide. Otherwise, i'm gonna sell it from my own! ;)
-
Very nice. I'll be watching for more of these.
-
Nice :-*
I have a lot of solid ones for 15mm http://www.blog.kings-sleep.me.uk/2011/10/cargo-containers.html (http://www.blog.kings-sleep.me.uk/2011/10/cargo-containers.html) but not seen open ones like this.
Keep us all in the loop please.

hehe, i'm trying to make my best. It is my first engage with this company, and i'm very concentrated. I want to make opened containers, with details on the inside, both sided opened (or closed), trying to keep the best details as possible. =)

blush.

The container looks perfect Jack! :o
Brilliant work, as always!
-
Its a brilliant idea, so I thought I would have a go & I made some wrinkly tin sheet using this method last night, much easier than the old way i did it (Why i didnt think of it though ::) )

=)
Glad you liked it. I found it brilliant too when i discovered the tutorial on Triplozero! =)
my only concern is that the toothstick is a bit too big for a 28mm corrugation. you should use something thinner... dunno what! =)

I know what you mean, I used some small ΓΈ2mm nails with the head clipped off rather than tooth picks

Great work on the containers 8) 8) 8)

exteriors done: A little dirty from the glue, i was so excited i didn't pay attention to it. But it's just a first (mis)cast! =)
Now i've to sculpt the interiors.
as you can see, the door could be used closed or opened. With the interiors sculpted it will be much better to see what's inside =)

excellent...........really really excellent :o
-
i also casted in resin a modular sci-fi or modern roof, with rivets and everything
There are 2 casts:

and a closer look here! =)

i'm happy with that, not a too-long work, but it will improve a lot the look of mY future postapoc scratchbuilds!
-
since i'm going a bit OT, i opened a proper topic on Post Apoc:

Here i'll continue with the panels and stuff. i've much to do and to show, indeed.
-
perfect job Jack. :P
-
You are most certianly getting better and better at this. The container is a work of art, very nice, and will be a sucess I am sure!
-
thanks guys! At the moment i'm making corrugated panels in order to do something like this:
Or similar. it would be my objective, at the moment.

Nah, I've already deleted it about a year ago (still have it on my Steam account though)
finished the game as Roland the soldier. Got the DLCs (but wasn't too thrilled about Moxxy's or the zombie mod)
never played the coop.
Just watched the Borderlands 2 trailer and it looks pretty cool.
However, first things first : have to get a new rig, then BF3, also replay Fallout 3 and install/play L4D2 (which I got as a gift from a friend, but haven't installed yet)
Until I have that new PC, I'm sticking to Team Fortress 2.

I'm sticking to Team Fortress 2.
Excellent taste sir. That's the only video game I play regularly. 8)

In that case, we might even have crossed each others paths.
