The artist formerly known as Mel Ebbles and now works for Worldworks (http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?view=catalog&cat_id=1&genre_id=3) has begun to work on a new project:
- 17″ long, 4″ tall (stands 5″ tall with landing gear included), and about 7-ish inches wide
- Functional cargo bay measuring 8″ long, 4″ wide, and 3″ tall. (Actual width is a hair under 3.5″ due to the hydraulic jack wells)
- The nose cargo door opens inwards and upwards, and the entire belly drops to the ground like the Aliens dropship.
If this has raised your interest and you want to have this brute deliver support to your tabletop troops you might want to add your support to this.
Details can be found here (http://www.ebbles.com/2012/02/feb-13-2012-getting-there/)
Yeah, I know it's papercraft, but it's big, functional and a lot cheaper than resin ;)
-
That's not bad. Would be interesting to use paper designs as a basis for more detailed models made from plastic sheet etc.
-
Now that is a nice shuttle. Wouldn't like to guess how much a resin kit of that would cost.
-
Chris has created a little feature, which permits to actually enter the cargo bay of this shuttle
Have a look here (http://www.ebbles.com/2012/02/3d-walkaround-test/#comments)

I really like this! I wanted a heavy cargo drop ship for some time.
Although I'm crap at folding, cutting, and gluing all that paper....
-
another pic ;)

Another update on the Walkabout, look here (http://www.ebbles.com/2012/02/walkaround-weekend-ii-electric-boogaloo/)
I like the idea to enter and look around the model you're going to build...
-
Is this kit still available?
I can't find a link to actually print or purchase this.

Ask and you shall receive:

(128 Mb download, mind you, but it's free!)

Nice model, but the need to build it from card scares me. I always liked the design of the Forgeworld Arvus lighter, and have been on the lookout for something along the same lines but larger. Would love to see this in plastic.
-
One could cut the panels out from styrene easily enough..
-
Probably what I will try and do. Me and paper don't get along well but my club has a bunch of paper experts so might try and get some help and see how it goes.
Thanks for the link.
