A little later than anticipated, but here are the new sculpts and I think well worth the wait. Matthew Bickley has pulled out all the stops for this batch, full of character... ;D
First up are Crockett's Tennesseans. With more than a nod to John Wayne's The Alamo, from left to right:
Thimblerig, Bull, Parson and The Beekeeper:

Next two packs of generic Texians. The first are Texians in frock coats armed with long rifles:

Texians in buckskins also armed with a mixture of Kentucky and Pennsylvania rifles. The chap second from the right wears a hat made out of a Cougar/mountain lion skin:

Finally a pack of Mexian Sappers. These stout fellows formed part of the assault force who broke into the Alamo at dawn on 6th March 1836. Armed with axes and pickaxes they helped break in the blocked up windows and doors of the mission.

They will go off to the casters this week and should be available in a couple of weeks time via the website:

The beekeeper! Perfect time of year for an unsavoury Oscars publicity campaign that leaves a sour taste in everyone's mouths! :)
Great sculpts.

Worth the wait, indeed, superb, Nick!

Absolutely stunning sculpts. :-*
Thimblerig has to be my favourite though. I'm resurrecting my Old West stuff this year (going back to my war gaming roots, as such) and these will be on my shopping list. :D

As they say, "better late than never!" But, in this case, much better!!! Really lovely figures and such expressive faces ~ I AM tempted, but also I AM skint...

Maybe the designer could negotiate a discount! :D or we could start lobbying for Senior Citizen prices? :P
Lovely figures, a nice growing range. I can see, that in the future, much of my gaming will be down Mexico way......... :D
-
Growing more esoteric with every release ;)
It's a good job you're only doing this for love and your own amusement, because there can't, surely, be a market for Mexican sappers - can there? ;D
Love the chap with the peg-leg. Certainly a lot of character and detail in this work.
-
Again everyone's a character, how does he do it! Love 'em Nicco :-*

Time to save some lunch money...

Very nice El Nico. Will the Mexican Infantry in white be wearing shako covers?

Very nice El Nico. Will the Mexican Infantry in white be wearing shako covers?
Yep :)
-
Whats next on the 'to be sculpted' list Nick? Since these have been previewed I've reverted back to early west painting (10 figures nearing completion at the moment...), and was just wondering what else is to come in the 'near' (ish) future... How about those Mexican tax collectors mentioned the other year?
-
More Texians inc officers and artillery men, Mexicans carrying and climbing ladders probably in two or three months time.
Then I will do Mexican civilians and the tax collector set.
Possibly after that lot some US regulars, then maybe the Comanche and some cowboys (seven of them) and Mexican bandits.
-
Ok, thanks for the response Nick - The rest of the years releases sound great! :D
Just out of plain old curiosity - would the Mexican banditos be for the current 'early' period, or for the more conventional 'old west' period?

They will be for the later period to go with the seven cowboys. ;)

Sounds good Nick. :D
Ever considered some Buffalo soldiers?
Looking forward to the Comanche. :D

I love you :-*

That rocks, I like the work but the Crocket stuff does not fit well into my Legends of the Old West collection, the 7 cowboys and banditos would be of huge interest to me as your stuff looks amazing.

Any plans as to what's next?
I should pick up next week Mexican infantry plus command in white summer uniforms.
Matt will then hopefully start on Texians in tail coats, Texians in shirtsleeves, Texian command, Texian artillerymen and hopefully some Mexicans carrying ladders. :)
-
Are you also going to do civilians in the future?
-
Yep civilians on the to do list along with a few more figures for Zorro games.
-
Orders in, they are the best yet. THE CID.
