Nice paint job, and the bases do them justice.
They appear to be from different periods,,,
What rules do you plan to use?
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, magokiron. These were originally intended for two different LPL entries, before I decided not to take part. So there are some more figures to come for both 2012 and 1895, but I don't have any actual games planned.

Inspector Lestrade, twice over.

Wow, you've nailed the Sherlock gene here! :)
I especially love modern John – he really is the spit of Martin Freeman.
Given your other Who stuff, I'm assuming that you're ongoing project is to work your way through Steven Moffat's complete TV output. When are we going to see Coupling in 28mm? lol
-
Very nice. Where are the moderns from?
-
The moderns are from Black Pyramid Gaming's "Classified" range, though Inspector Lestrade started out as a lookalike of Patrick Stewart in Eleventh Hour - I added hair and remodelled his nose (a little clumsily).
Sadly, they don't do any lookalikes for Press Gang or Joking Apart ...
-
Excellent.

Wonderful stuff. Great idea to do both modern and old :)
-
Very nice indeed.

Thanks, chaps. I've revarnished some of these to reduce the shine, and hope to post some better photos shortly.

Some slightly better photos.

As a fan of both the cannon and the new series I love these. Great painting!

The woman.
And also the woman (of dubious and questionable memory).

You opted against the revamped version in 'undress' mode then? ;D

A great shame ;D lol
Lovely stuff :)

I have just realised that I have been following this from the begining and have still not posted anything....
Shame on me!
::)
A fantastic concept and brilliant interpretation.
Great paintjobs are nailing the characters perfectly.
Very well done!

Only just found this thread - love it :-*

Thanks, chaps.
I did consider portraying modern Irene in "battle dress", as she puts it, but, given the outdoor basing, I thought that might be a bit much. This is London's Belgravia, after all, not Newcastle's Bigg Market!

Brilliant! The paint effect on the dog's face is spot on.

:o
Fantastic additions.

Really nice stuff Steve F.
The hounds look great!
-
Thanks, folks. I stuck closely to Conan Doyle's description of where the phosphorus paint was applied.
Oh, dear, I hope that isn't a spoiler ...
-
Great set of figures.
I was digging into my lead pile and found I have the Foundry
Holmes and Watson,
that you have painted so well.

Really great stuff. Can I ask who makes your Victorian version of Doctor Watson and the Victorian policemen ? I can't identify the manufacturer, and while there are quite a few good 28mm Sherlocks around, for some reason I've never been convinced by the various "Doctor Watson" figures. The Victorian policemen verge towards (but fall a distance short of) the "comedy" Victorian policemen made by Eureka that I have somewhere and you might look at for reinforcements (I think they were in the Pax Limpopo line) if you're not aware of them : would fit the "rotund, bewhiskered and self satisfied" Victorian sensiblity !
-
Thanks, leadboy.
The Watson in a top hat is a Foundry Victorian Gentlemen. Holmes is a Foundry Old West undertaker with the crepe veil removed from the back of his hat. The Victorian police are indeed Eureka, but not the versions they label as "comedy".

On reflection, this is, I think, true only of Hollywood versions of the characters. If you are after Conan Doyle versions, as I am, it's the other way around. There are a lot of figures that fit Watson's description ("a middle-sized, strongly-built man -- square jaw. thick neck, moustache" - The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton), but almost all of the Holmes figures have him in the deerstalker cap and cloak. No Victorian gentleman, even one as unconventional as Holmes, would have worn that get-up in town, where most of the stories are set. But figure manufacturers making Victorian gents tend to err on the side of making them portly and hairy-faced, rather than lean and hawk-like.
Two honourable exceptions to the deerstalker rule are Ironclad Miniatures, whose Holmes is in topper and frock-coat, and RAFM, who make a version in dressing-gown. But I happen not to like the former, while the latter is obviously limited to the confines of 221B Baker Street.

There's an associated Watson for each, which you might like to check out if you haven't already seen them.
-
Thanks so much - I shall chase down those Eureka bobbies and think I have the Foundry Gentleman in my leadpile. The latest Sherlock , produced by Muttonchop, has him in deerstalker but NOT cape, which is an interesting choice. Worth a look if you haven't already clocked him : http://www.muttonchop.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=35&product_id=59

Very nice Steve. I really like.
You've captured the new Sherlock characters particularly well. I especially like john and the inspector!
Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Cheers
Andy

These are fantastic. I've been following your who stuff for an age but I think you've really captured the feel of Holmes and Watson in both eras.
-
They look great! I'm not sure if anyone has already asked this, but where did you get the modern Sherlock and John?
