Just putting the finishing touches to these, (Bases, final highlights etc) however they are pretty much finished, I am pleased with the results, so wanted to post them up here. They are destined to see action in my forthcoming Robin Hood/Ivanhoe/medieval skirmish project. :)

Just noticed a couple are out of focus, bugger, sorry about that, but you get the general idea. ::)
Gripping beast figures with LBM shield transfers. The crosses on the tabards are freehand though, fun tp paint, but some of the detail is hit and miss on these figures.

peachy ;)
-
That is shiny, Nick! Was unexpected but so much the better :)
-
Your still going down ;D
Can't show mine until the LPL :(
cheers
James

Those are real nice, Nick! :-*
Wish I had those kinda shield transfers when I was so into Ancients and Medieval stuff. Makes such a huge difference.
Your freehand crosses came out a treat!
-
Lovely Nick - really looking forward to playing your game! :D
-
Crisp crosses and bright white, love 'em :)
-
Very nice Nicholas. Looking forward to the whole collection. Presumably the Templars are going to be baddies in your Robin Hood universe?
Sir Roderick Front de Bouef etc... Wasn't he the villainous Templar in the Flynn / Rathbone version, or am i getting onfused with Ivanhoe? ::)
-
DEUS LO VULT!!!
-
Very nice Malamute.
Can't wait to see more of this project. :-*
-
Nice start!
-
Lovely work - these will look cracking on the table :D
The sword on the left handed one looks a but odd - the hilt seems made for a long sword, but then there's a short blade stuck on the end.
I'd be tempted to remove the tilt from below the hand and reattach the pommel for a more typical late twelfth, early thirteenth century sword. :)

Brilliant job :-* :-*

Reginald Front De Bouef is from Ivanhoe along with his friends, Brian de Bois Guilbert and Maurice De Bracy. In my Robin Hood world the Templars are on the side of good king Richard the Lionheart... Of course its pure Hollywood, so anything can happen. :) ;)
-
Ah yes... Reggie... Of course... ;)
-
Very nice work mate.
-
Lovely work Nick, very crisp whites. :-*
I've overlooked a lot of Gripping Beast figures because they tend to have Playmobil hands, but these are really nice. And a bit tempting...
-
Wow! look forward to see the rest ;D

The hands take a lot of reworking. I filed them out to properly hold the weapon, then add greenstuff after the weapon is added to make the hand look right and add a thumb where appropriate. Fiddly but worth it. ::)
-
Ah, right. Maybe not so tempting then, if you have to resculpt bits of them!
Cheers matey, you've just saved me some cash! lol
-
They look great! :-*
-
Good looking figures.
Look forward to seeing them in a game.
Notice you put them on clear bases, interesting idea.
-
Looking good Nick.
Love to see them when based and finished

The bases are yet to be textured and have static grass etc added.
-
Seeing as my childhood obsession with Robin Hood still hasn't entirely worn off, I'm very excited to see how this turns out. It's certainly off to a cracking start! Which manufacturers will you be using for the outlaws?
-
They looks so good....congratulations.
-
Looking good right enough.
-
Very nice paint job and thanks for the tip on the hands. My son has a stack of these needing painting (been in his unpainted drawer for a few years now), so I showed him yours and he has got his mojo back for them.
I like the clear bases - I assumed they would have a stat chit or something underneath for your gaming rules. Out of interest where did you get the bases? I may go down that route for my Robin Hood/Medieval/Fantasy universe (I am trying to find a ruleset at the moment and am stuck on either SoBH or LotR:SBG.
-
The bases are from me, send me a PM :)
Mine are based and the shields are base coated now ;D I'm not going for transfers on these ones but will consider it on the next lot :)
cheers

Great stuff Nick – nice crisp whites. :)
I do hope that Errol Flynn Robin Hood will be carrying fresh venison over his shoulder! lol

Of course if I can find a suitable figure ;)

The old Games Workshop Bertand the Brigand fits my Errol Flynn vision of Robin. His Merry Men will be made up of the GW metal squire/bowmen again OOP but they are plentiful on EBay.

Those are bloody good, I might have to get some to go with my crusaders
I'd be pleased if I could get them looking like that
