Title: Colours for British PIATs and Mortars
Post by: James Morris on February 22, 2012, 10:06:04 PM
Sorry if this is a very easy question for someone, but as a relative newcomer to WW2 gaming I am painting up some British for Normandy 1944.  What were the usual colours for PIATs, 2" Mortars and 3" Mortars?  Any help appreciated!

Cheers

James

I found some pictures in Google Pictures. This Pics show the mortars and the PIAT in typical green. So I would use Valejo Russian Green or something like this.

Russian Green is a good start for British equipment.

Artizan suggests Reflective green, but I imagine any mid-dark green colour would do.

I use Vallejo olive yellow for British kit and helmets, but any medium green is fine.   For the PIAT, the ones I've seen also had a canvas pad around the stock to cushion the shoulder against the discharge of the spring, and that is a buff or light khaki colour.

That's great, thank you very much.  I have a pot of Russian Green sitting in the cupboard so that will do!  Much appreciated.
