Title: Allied Assault - Game Photos
Post by: Skrapwelder on 26 February 2012, 06:06:25 PM
Last Friday as reported elsewhere we played another game of our home grown rules: Howling GI's. It was a Take and Hold mission for the American/Russian players vs the defending Germans.

Below are some photos I took.

The right flank held by the Soviets. Lots of infantry and some outdated tanks. A pair of walkers and a very large bear.

Part of the German left opposite the Russians.

Another look at the Germans from the center down torads the right flank. The Germans had vehicles mostly in pairs. Medium Walkers, Pz IV's and some old 38 T's as well as a platoon of Leadfool's mechanized infantry and the leg infantry of Laughing Ferret's Frau Totenkinder army. There was a Gingerbread man and werewolf in there as well.

Several shots of my Americans on the left flank. Here we see part of the machine gun squad that along with a sniper/forwad observer team was the infantry portion of my force.

Holding the far left flank was my walker squad. Three suits of the A.P.E. powered armor and Ellie, my light walker. The unit's pair of 6 pdr's and 37mm proved very effective against the German half tracks and light tanks.

Here is the final portion of my force: Three mortar carrying half tracks that did so poorly as artillery they ended up being the exploitation element on the left once the walkers and my sniper created a hole in the German defensive advance.

One of the PZ IV's gets knocked out.

The second PZ IV, prior to an imminent knockout.

The Soviet infantry advances through the woods in an attempt to roll the Totenkinder flank.

The BT 7's were wily and gave as good as they got if not better.

The Russians advancing on the hill.

Things were not looking good for the Germans by the time we called the game. Most of Frau Totenkinder's army was intact, with the exception of a Flying Gingerbread man that underestimated the anti aircraft abilities of a pair of Quad .50 mounting walkers the Soviets had and the Giant Bear that feasted on the crumbs of the ill fated cookie. The German right flank was pretty much gone with Americans rolling in to envelope the left. If only the Russians could hold on a little longer.

All in all it was a great game and the rules are working out very well.

Thanks for looking.

Mike
