Title: New from Bronze Age Miniatures
Post by: Comsquare on March 04, 2012, 09:17:52 AM
Hei,

David from Bronze Age Minis soon will release new Barbarians in his fantasy range.
Some teasers right now.

Amazones
(http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/Comsquare/image005.jpg)

Female Barbarians
(http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/Comsquare/female-barbarian-d.jpg)

Male Barbarians
(http://i611.photobucket.com/albums/tt196/Comsquare/male-barbarian-1-a.jpg)

The last one is my personal favorite.
He will be "my" Conan.
Actually, I contacted David a few weeks ago if he could convert me a "Conan" looking like that and he said that he will maybe add him into his range.
And he did :D

Minis will be available at Cold Wars and after that from his online shop ;)

All good sculpts but the best of the bunch for me is the Barbarian with winged helmet. He is based on a picture I am sure.Amazon's knock the socks right off what Foundry are releasing too.

Some nice stuff there. Not all gold, but still some very paint-able pieces (especially the top two).

I like them. I think here's a nice balance between the clichee of a barbarian and a reasonable weaponsize/bulkinress of the body. Nice ones.

VERY NICE additions to a fine range of minis; I like the set-up-for slotted bases thing...not having to file off bases is a plus with moi. David has a way with the miniature Babes, & the Barbarians are cool...he's also a TERRIFIC person to deal with.

I'd completely missed that! Good move considering the hassle I had removing the integral bases from my sci-fi stuff. Helps cut down on materials and weight too (some of those integrals contained so much metal you could have almost got another mini out of them!).

Absolutely great - getting these for sure.

Does anyone stock these in the UK?

I've ordered direct and found the shipping very reasonable and fast, so may not be a problem.

Yet more lovely minis from bronze age, especially the Amazons. Pity they're US based.

Did you get stung by customs?

Unless it is a very small order I try to put all orders to the UK as being between $9.95 and $15.95 on the customs as long as it is in a global priority package or padded envelope to help with customs.  ;)

Just like a Ken Kelly painting in 28mm...

If the ladies are wearing the Red Sonja collection, then I'd like to see rib/ab structure done as well as the gents  :)

He's based on a Frazetta painting.

I want to buy their Death Dealer sculpts that Matakishi has. Don't see them on the website though....

You have to contact David about him ;)
There are 3 different versions ( I think just 2 are shown in Matakishis thread) and David has also a conversion-kit, including shield, axe, helmet and sword in scabbard.

They don't fit in with what I am collecting and painting at the moment, but those are all nice sculpts.

I was lucky enough to make it to Cold Wars and say hi to David as I picked up this stuff, plus a units worth of his new Amazons.

I like that they are on the new thinner bases, and he mentioned he is going to be going back and re-doing some or all (?) of his older stuff.

I'd love to see him put his John Carter stuff on tabs or much thinner bases, the huge integral bases are really all that keeps me away.

I was lucky enought o get to Cold Wars too, so I picked up the Conan, Toth Amon and a handful of the Greek heroes.  I'll be looking to pick up some figures for Red Sonja, Belit and Valeria too.  On the horizon I'm looking forward to the Arthurians, more Dark Ages and could use a Subotai, and some of Conan's other allies.

Which of the "Conans" did you get?

Got today a package from David, including the new female and male barbarians ;D
Ordered also the orcs and one ogre.
As allways, great minis and service :D

Drew & I put our order in last week.  We're super jazzed!  We just kinda went nuts.  Lots of sweet minis to paint soon.

I have to say, David, IMO is the MASTER of capturing Frank Frazetta's sense of motion is his sculptures.  Just stunning!

We'll post pics once we have them all painted up.
