I would love to game the Ten Cents War between Bolivia, Chile and Peru in 28mm does anyone know if there is anything out there or planed or what one could use instead..?,
Please dont suggest 10mm or 15mm as they are not my trhing!
Thanks,
Geoff

Hey. Ive only ever seen The War of the Pacific's naval campaign being wargamed before -although I know that there are decent 10&15mm ranges out there - but as far as I know there aren't any 28mm ranges. Both sides wore kepis and their uniforms were fairly irregular. There may be some mileage in using ACW figures with suitable paint-jobs and a little converting here and there.
I have no idea what you could do about the Bolivian Donkey Cavalry though.....
Keep us updated - this sounds like an interesting project

Had seen this figs which are French chasseurs which with the right paint job and work to the leggiings and shortening the rifle barrel might do for some of the troops..?

I thought about it a year or two ago using perry-plastic and some greenstuff.
For me its close enough.
But then again I am more of a gamer then a button counter... lol
here some uniform-links:

As a button counter, I found no suitable figures....FPW french could be used as Chileans but the water bottle and rifles need some modifications. PERRY plastic union infantry could do rather easily as peruvians, though...
Anyway, it would be better if we had a true dedicated range :D

I will second the call for a dedicated range..any takers..?

Well, yes. It's a fun idea. However, no one would buy into it. One must be realistic about these things... ::)

Foundry Mexican Infantry are great for Bolivians and Peruvians. Some ACW figs will do for Peruvians and some FPW French (Guardes Mobiles) will do for Chileans.

Well, we publish the Uniform book, and of course own a figure company some of you made have heard of, so ofetn thought about doing it. but , as mentioned, one has to be realistic. A decent range would be well over £4000 to get into production.

Hello Dave, I just purchased the uniform book from you after reading The Ten Cent War and would love to get an initial figure of each side made to kick things off
-
I wish this project success but the manufacturer(s) would need evidence that it would be profitable (unless it was "their" thing...) :(
Else I would have M-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-c-e in S-p-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-c-e by now. ::) lol
Gracias,
Glenn

Try asking outpost games if you are that serious about bringing this range 'into existence'. They often do partly-commissioned ranges. Although, they already do a large range for La Guerra del Pacifico in 15mm and they might be concerned against competing against themselves!

Has anyone seen Foundry`s Mexicans used and painted in this way, if so please let me know..?
Thanks,

Matchlock Miniatures have released some figs for this period
-
I discovered this interesting conflict myself some time ago
as far as I understood, Perry ACW could be a good start and whoever makes Maximilian French and Mexicans
As others have pointed out of course
Good Luck with the project and please post results

Matchlock Miniatures/Miniature Figurines have released about six figs for this, they are as far as I know all advancing, clean castings should paint up well..the first offerings appear to be set during the First Campaign but several can be used right the way through.

Overt thread hijack:
Have those. Possibilities for Fantasy FRPG are good, SF not so much. Too few figures for wargaming in all cases.
Gracias
