Hi All,
I am about to paint up Mark Copplestones Siberian Rifles and I am wondering which flags did they carry and How many battalions did they have?
Cheers

Hmm ...
Everything here is much more complicated.
What army are you interested in?
Imperial? Komuch? The Czechs? Kolchak? White Primorye? Or maybe Reds?

Hi Cuprum,
I plan to paint them for the red side first.

With the Red problem can be solved easily.
Make the banner of the Central Executive Committee Award (VTsIK).
Only these banners were standard. Otherwise you will have to be determined - what kind of military unit will be represented.

On the other side of the banner, which shows the star, the bottom number is written regiment, received the award. Here is the "214 Rifle Regiment." I do not remember exactly in what he was fighting front. But these hats, which are figures of Siberian riflemen, are characteristic of the Eastern (Kolchak) front.
With a selection of other Red flags can be found here: http://siberia-miniatures.ru/forum/showthread.php?fid=12&tid=94&block=20

The reds didn't have "Siberian riflemen". All their infantry units were "rifles" and some of them happened, naturally, to be Siberian. In this case Copplestone uses it to cover men with the big furry hats mostly worn by Easterners.
Cuprum's flag is pretty generic Red, the only issue being most VTsIK flags were issued quite late in the war. So good for BoB, but not if fighting Czechs in 1918. Also it is a regimental flag. For a lower level unit, something red with gold slogan and/or soviet symbol and the units number on the other side was pretty standard.
Red rifle organisation was triangular all the way down, so three battalions, of three companies.
