This game that Simon Chick and I (Darrell Hindley) and put on for the Lance and Longbow Society was a long time in the planning. We finally got things together and decided to show the game at Salute 2011. We were very surprised to win Best Demo Game to say the least let alone have our picture taken with Rifleman Harris :?. The miniatures are about 95% Perry's from their Agincourt to Orleans range and were painted by Simon and I. The scenery all belongs to Simon including the beautifull conversion of the Hudson and allen Castle which stood in for the city walls of Verneuil.
I started a Blog a good while ago covering the preperation for the game which is still ongoing called La Journee(watch out for more pics on the blog this afternoon):

Feel free to pop over and take a peek ;).
In the mean time I'll leave you with the pics of the game:

Beautiful, Darrell. A smashing castle conversion!

One of my favourite things from last year's Salute. A thing of absolutely beauty, and great to be reminded of it again.
:-*

Yes, it was a sight to behold. 8)

My thoughts exactly :)
It was also good to meet Darrell and Simon and have a chat.
In fact, I've got a few photos of this myself...
Might add them to this thread if I can find them...

Absolute stunner of a game :-* :-* :-*
What we should all aspire to :)
The castle was converted by a nice chap called John Bodle (I went to university with him) and I made the clear trays ;)
Certainly my favourite game of the show and a well deserved winner.
cheers

Apparently, John Bodle only does castle conversions very sparingly, which is a bit annoying, because it looks bloody fabulous. Simon kindly enquired on my behalf if John would be interested in doing one for me, and sadly, the answer came back, he wouldn't... :'(
All castled out apparently...
James, could you do that to the Hudson & Allen component parts... ? ::) 8)

Only joking, of course I will dear boy (but not until after Salute ;) ).

I got the same answer from John when I asked last year - might be worth doing something off-the-shelf to convert his models as I'd also be up for it (with his permission of course) James?

Fantastic looking table!
Not much more that I can add to the well deserved praise already heaped upon you!

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and kind words.
Simon and I are now both thinking about putting on the Battle of Cravant which should, we hope, be another spectacle worth seeing.
Darrell.

I've just seen this thread - as an occasional visitor to 'these shores' - so hope you don't mind my contribution.
RE JimBibbly's question on figures on the table at the game last year - about 180 English (plus Darrell's 50 odd), and about 300 Scots & French (these are ignoring the command vignettes and those figures milling within the town walls and in the encampment.
re the laser-cut palisades to fit the Hudson and Allen walls, I think this would be a great idea to enhance the castings (in effect what John Boadle did for me). Just FYI I recall that Ben at Vatican Enterprises (who owns the H&A moulds) was having some wooden laser cut ones done for him. He sent me pics of the first test peices. Regrettably I failed to save them and they got lost with all my emails when my old PC died :( IIRC they were for one of the towers? Looking on the Vatican site today I can't see them available.
Cheers

Wow! That is an absolutely fantastic table and figures you have there. Lots of attention to detail and some spiffing paint work. Nicely done, sir!

Beautiful table!

Beautiful table!
Just the table? :D lol
Ta, anyway mon ami.

Welcome Simon, good to see you on here :)
Thanks for the info on the figures, it actually looks like there are more on the table than the numbers suggest.
I must admit, I didn't think the castle additions were lasered. Knowing Johns work I assumed they were hand made :)
cheers

James
Yes, John Boadle's palisading was handmade and effectively individually cut to fit - my response may have misled there on that point?
Cheers
Simon.

Simon,
My mistake, I've just re-read your post and you were coerrect to begin with :)
