Title: Pit Crawlers and Beastly Walkers [CONAN]
Post by: Astromini5 on March 10, 2012, 03:35:51 AM
Just received an order from Noble Knight Games, for a few pulp fantasy figs to build my Conan crews. But first, a word about why evil sorcerers keep foul creatures in deep pits. Clearly, one reason is so they can do their job of menacing maidens by dangling them above certain doom. The second reason has to do with keeping an evil hideout from needing to be cleaned all the time. If you let tentacled grubs like the ones pictured below roam around, their "locomotion by excretion" will ruin your cult lair.  ;)

Back on topic...the heroic team is made up of Reaper releases. Since I wanted an armored Conan, Tre Manor's Urich sculpt looked good. However, I had to swap his shield out, since Conan always carries a round targe. The other characters are named, although I will be looking for a better Belit/Valeria in time.

A previous thread I started was the beginning of a "ratling/werebeast" team. I was having trouble finding an affordable Shaman to give the monsters a magic boost. Luckily, Noble Knight had an old Arcana Unearthed figure (Female Litorian) that looks just like a Conan comic "Were-lioness". The leading cat lady (a whopping 36mm tall) was modified with a skull to tip her staff. This team may yet receive one big critter (like a manticore or such) and some rampaging Dire Rats.

Finally I have the start of my last team, which began with a River Troll and SpikeShell Turtles. I selected MudCroak the frog Shaman and his toy steed, GAMERA, to help them out. For troops I'm considering raptor/lizards or plant-men (Conan cuts down a lot of bloodthirsty weeds).

Nice collection of miniatures there, especially the monsters.

Now then, lets get some paint on the fellas, shall we, Old Bean?  ;)
