Hi, All!

Absolutely fantastic! Pantagruel is superb, but Gargantua even better!

Oops! "showing..."
:?
Little button at the top right hand corner of your post reading 'modify'. Click it.
Wonderful stuff, by the way. Really rather good indeed...
:-*
Not so sure about the use of (unpainted) wood, though. I think steel would be better for the two-legged walker and gun carriage.
Edit: And shouldn't the big one fly the RN ensign, rather than the Union Flag? ;)
-
Nice work :-* :-* I too did think that wood was possibly not the best material for the legs but as someone said to me only last night - form over function every time :) Didn't look unpainted to me though.
-
Thanks, gents.
You're right - I may replace the Union Flag with the RN Ensign at some point. Not sure.
As for wood - it looks nice. 'Nuff said.
-
Fantastic stuff. Very inspirational. :-*
-
Those're crazy cool! :-* :-* :-*
-
Didn't look unpainted to me though.
Oh, no, I meant it's been painted 'natural' - gun carriages etc are usually painted blue (for the British) or whatever. I didn't mean nothing has been done to them - indeed, it looks pretty damned impressive.
If you see what I mean...
-
I like the wooden look of 'Pantagruel'. As it is unarmed, and so possibly civilian, maybe its the steam walker equivalent of one of those real-life varnished wood luxury steam-yachts and speedboats?
-
I believe Pantagruel was built as a civilian exploratory walker. Plus, the prices of Bessemer steel these days - absolutley ruinous. You'd have to have the Purse to cover the costs! I imagine that's why they opted for honest British oak.
-
Yes. Something like that.
-
One word......'Wow!"
-
Great stuff and very inspirational.
I've been wanting to make myself a steamwalker for a while now. After seeing this it might be my next project.
-
Just added my new Thomson Tank-Engines to the page:
