Title: Calpe French
Post by: Schrumpfkopf on 12 March 2012, 09:25:18 PM
First opportunity to cross-post stuff over from my favoured Sweetwater-forum!

I was starting to paint a few of these miniatures in order to find a nice pattern for the 250 Frenchies ahead of me.
The cast is clean the sculpting is very dynamic with well extruded details. Really easy to paint and stuffed with pretty details they're too.

I'm not easy to convince, but these are possibly the best napoleonic 28mm miniatures I was ever holding in my hands.

Terrific

Calpe is all metal - right?
Could you do a small comparison regarding the painting between calpe and perry plastics?

Yes they're made of metal.

I think they compare well size-wise, but the bayonet really is a lot bigger and I wouldn't mix them in the same unit.

Great painting, Schrumpfkopf.
Calpe Prussians are outstanding.
I see these new French are more of the same.

Thanks for your answer - but how is your experience with Painting the calpe minis compared with perry minis?

Your Base is looking great - and I'm very interested in your next bases....

Really well painted and they do show how well cast and animated the figures are.

I've got lots of Calpe Prussians but have yet to acquire any French, or indeed any Saxons.

Your post has persuaded me to get some sooner rather than later.

Cheers,

Paul
