They are beyond special :o :-*
-
HELL YEAH! :-*
lovely lovely lovely! lovely. They are really amazing Ratnik! You are not human, you are a bloody sculpting machine! Finally some imperial stylish crossbow I'd really like to paint. Thank you. :)
They are so cool. What a warband I'll do with those figs plus cannon servants (converted).
Prof, please release this stuff. I need them!
No, seriously, I need them. :-I
-
2 Faber - thanks! but be patient - it's only first part of Wilhelm von Tell crew... :)
-
Amazing bunch, Igor!!!
the boy is very cool :-*
-
really outstanding :o Sorry but as an original Helvetian i have to say that the Tell himself looks more like Gessler (the Bad Guy in that Story ) :-X
-
sorry, but it's a not a historically correct person, but a fantasy champion
-
sorry, but it's a not a historically correct person, but a fantasy champion
Wilhelm Tell wasnt a real Person either ;)
-
2 Faber - thanks! but be patient - it's only first part of Wilhelm von Tell crew... :)
yeah! great news! :-*
the boy is very cool :-*
It's only me not seeing his page boy/herald? :(
-
Wonderful sculpts! My poor painting could never do them justice. :'(
-
Ratnik, My God.... I am utterly stunned. I usually hate crossbowmen, but I have now been converted!!!! :-*
-
Blimey! They are stupendous :-*
-
Oh wow! Wow! Wow! Just amazing work! So much character!!
-
This range just goes from strength to strength. :o
-
:-* :-* :-*
Beautiful!!!
Cant wait to see the rest.
It looks like another human Mordheim warband is in the offing.
Combining these with the others already released and it will be irresistable.
;D ;D ;D

Words fail me.

-
Absolut fantastic figures!
@Igor
Really pieces of miniatures art....
-
Beautiful, you are the Durer of sculpting ;)
-
Great Work! I think it is a work straight from your heart. Very, very nice...
-
Jeepers :o
-
absolutely stunning. could this have something to do with the upcoming Empire release by GW? ;)
-

Not really, just another stage for the Bruegelburg range. We never thought of keeping in step with GW releases or GW ranges. This is just the stuff Igor for the time being likes to do, not more.
-
Wow! Those are amazing!
-
I love these and indeed most of the range... I just wish someone would do something similar for an 'Italian' style setting for the same era. Landsknechts are fine and all, but they have no sense of taste or style. ;)

I see. I'm quite new here so forgive me for asking. How can one get these figures?

It's nothing wrong with asking so no need to apologize.
These crossbowman are an early preview, we'll need some months to release them. Currently you can purchase the earlier Bruegelburg releases there:

upcoming Empire release by GW? ;)
really? Sounds good to me. A lot of new bits, hope.
Have you got a link for some pics? :P
-
Landsknechts are fine and all, but they have no sense of taste or style. ;)
Bite your tongue!!! how could you utter such blasphemy after seeing such wonderful sculpts?!?!?! ;D
Ratnik...Once again you have made my day! Some missile troops to go with my Halberds...awesome! These are quite special indeed!
Though my bank account is... :'(
Cheers,
Blue
-
These are true must-haves. I think these are the best things Igor made for LAM :)
Stephan

Man I love them all...but the Sergeant is truly mind blowing...well done!

Sweet Jeebus! Those are awesome!

There is nothing more to say.

Second all the previous comments, best work to date. Nice!
-

any ideas? :)
-
Those figures are absolutely gorgeous.
-
any ideas? :)
Well I will try not to bombard you with them but....
They would need to match in to the vague time period of the other Bruegelburg figures, so 1490 - 1520 time period. In my head I'm seeing a town the opposite of Bruegelburg, a place where art and science have taken precedence over religion and magic. The clothing is less 'German' and tighter fitting. Match that with the character you put into your sculpts and they should be awesome.

Street performers, prostitutes, assassins, thieves and Street thugs. The Assassins Creed II and AC Brotherhood computer games are packed with inspiration too.
In essence, all that you've done with the Bruegelburg range, but different. ;)
You could call it Città da Vinci, or Castello Michaelangelo, or something... :?
-
Absolutely love these figures, Love all the Bruegelburg figures, but still working my way through Igor's STALKER figures, so haven't got around to getting any of these yet, but with each new release it gets harder to resist and more expensive to start collecting lol
-
All I know is that at some point we need some rough hard looking knights.
-
SSshhh...quiet you guys...don't distract him from the task at hand...more puff and slash goodness...we still need hand gunners and pikemen, at least, before I'm ready to move on.
Blue
-
Sheer brilliance. I know it doesn't add anything to what has been said before, but it's true.

They'd stand in for exceptionally well dressed Bruegelburgers... someone has to pay their wages after all. However we do need this 'Ratniked':

be patient...
-
Some of these are skinny, but actually by Bruegel:
Massacre of the Innocents (lots of troops)
Census at Bethlehem (only a few pikemen in the centre background)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieter_Bruegel_the_Elder
But if you are going Italian, I'd look at the Borgias, but probably not the recent version, the 1981 version was heavily criticised but I thought Adolfo Celi made a great pope:

I can do patient, the possibility of such figures is enough to content me. It's not like I've started on what you've already done yet. :D
-
Fantastic, there is no more to say. :o
-
Well I will try not to bombard you with them but....
ok. I'll think about it
-
Wow! Wonderful Mini´s!
-
Landsknechts... Italian fellows... dwarves.... villagers and burghers... halflings... priests... sinister wizzards... hedge knights... whatever. I will probably buy them all.

This has very little to do with clothes from the 1520 period.

Uh yes! I'll buy all of them! The kid with the bugle is still my favourite! It's great to see so many caracterfull minis at once ;D
-

Please illuminate me... and I did say; vague time period and 1490-1520 time period. It is of course a fantasy range too, so would a bit of anachronism be a problem?
I'll accept fashion changed from around 1515 or so onwards. It's always doing that, stupid fashion!
Judging by the Italian paintings here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1500%E2%80%931550_in_fashion#Style_gallery_.E2.80.93_Italy_and_Spain_1500s.E2.80.931520s), I don't see that I'm far off the mark. Fair enough it is Wikipedia, but the dates of the paintings shown aren't arguable.
I was a bit stuck for contemporary photos to illustrate what I meant, hence the use of largely TV and film impressions of what was worn around then.
-
It's really great seeing an already very talented sculptor get increasingly better! These last few guys are amazing, Ratnik. Well done!

agree. he was good, now he's great!
-
Simply wonderful detail.
The only negative for me, and it is totally a factor of personal taste, is them not being slightly more realistically proportioned.
:'(
-
It is time to start a sort of ratnik-cult :o :o :o
The cult of big eyes :o :o :o
-
Please illuminate me
Dont be lazy, do it your self. I have spent more than 25 years studing the subject, handsewing, buying/borrowing material, going to craft classes, traveling the world visiting museums and events. So no, I will not.
Btw, fantastic figures.

If you tell to someone in a discussion he's wrong you should be willing to explain why. If not, it's maybe better to leave it.
-
What kind of attitude is that? Would it belittle your extensive research to post a picture or a reference. That should be quite easy for you if you have 25 years experience with the topic. Please enlighten us poor ignorant fools.
Irritating.

I really like these. As for proportions, I think its the hang of the clothes (and beards in some cases) themselves that give the impression that they are mis-proportioned. I've stared at these a lot and tried to look under the clothes (no law against it) and I'm happy with them.

Explains why you didn't have the time to pick up some civility or attend charm school then. ::)
Nevertheless I'll stick with wanting something along the lines of what I posted, however wrong or unhistorical it may be, for my fantasy setting.
-
The real William Tell was, supposedly (I didn't spend 25 years checking), a member of the German archery guild, the Brotherhood of St Mark, who were also known as ... the Marx Brothers. Really.
Not that I want to put ideas into anyone's head, of course.
-

I have to disagree, even being especially forgiving with guessing where the chin and top of the head is these models are at most 5 heads tall.
A human is 7 to 8 heads tall.
Also the hands hang down to knee level rather than mid-thigh.
However I wouldn't dream of saying they are "mis-proportioned" this is obviously just the style chosen for them, which is sadly not one I am a great fan of.
-

That's correct for most people isn't it? Well, it is round my way lol
Don't change a thing the figures are fucking beautiful :-*

Lovely stuff, I ask myself, what is your next passion

This might encourage Ratnik to sculpt even faster:

lol lol
-
Yeah, and a Lone Ranger figure would be great ;)
-
I think they are sweet sculpts! Nice job. I can't wait to see more.
-
yeah! more super cool crossbowmen! :-* :-*
great work Ratnik! Keep going, I'm buying them all! :P
-
we've received the sculpts, what a lovely bunch, love them and can't wait to get my hands on the casts
now off to the caster!
-
I cannot think of one single solitary justification for buying these figures. They are not a period I play, they require superb painting, far beyond my meager capabilities, they are likely to cost me money I don't have, they are an inexcusable indulgence, I would buy them and then just sit and look at them, never knowing what to do with them....but they are so superb I will not be able to eat or sleep until I get some!
Brilliant. Just brilliant. :-*

My exact thoughts!
-
:-* lol o_o
My problem is that I can think of TOO many justifications to buy these bad boys...they are some of the most exciting figures that Ratnik has produced IMO...and thats saying something...I love most everything fantasy that he does. Oh yes...these will be mine!
Love the group shot Alex!

-
Good Gosh, thos are awesome!!!! I will be placing an order for them when they are up. Great job Igor. =)

I'll just get them for their amazing look :D Great great stuff! Especially the little bugler boy!
-
Ommygod! They are simply AMAZING!
-
Fantastic!
-
and the rest of the gang!

:-* :-* :-*
-
They are great. I just ordered the Bruegelburg third wave deal (landsknechts) and will get these once they are available.
BTW, dwarf crossbowmen would be neat to.
-
Agreed!

-
Absolutely astounding, gorgeous, highly stylized works of art! Truly Ratnik is a Rembrandt! (Ignore the Plebs who don't understand that art is not about photcopying reality.)
-
When will these works of art be available? ;D
-

Great! I've got time to sell a kidney!

Pavises! We will have a pack providing them.
-
Cool! Keeps getting better and better.
I would also like to get some extra landsknecht polearms, any plans for a pack of them?

Too kind mate :) Actually, I know perfectly I won't be disappointed: a dear friend of mine (MaxxVonMorton here on LAF) has bought several LAM goodies and so I've seen them in flesh. My first instinct has been something like "grab his minis, run away and paint them!" lol And I've seen what you can obtain with those dwarfs ;)
I'm planning an order since long time ago, always waiting to see new releases to combine the shipping....but now I really need to paint those crossbowmen. Can't wait no more: they are way to cool to be not in my collection :D And I'm going to buy the cannon set too if the release is simultaneous. Oh, and I need those jesters. Oh, and the Arnolfini's...oh, and the pigs..The only matter will be my ridicolous budget :'(
-
Don't worry faber! I'll be glad to share with you the shipping! As always, I look forward to have more of these beautiful minis!!
I love them!!!
:-* :D
