Combining these with the others already released and it will be irresistable.

Not really, just another stage for the Bruegelburg range. We never thought of keeping in step with GW releases or GW ranges. This is just the stuff Igor for the time being likes to do, not more.

I love these and indeed most of the range... I just wish someone would do something similar for an 'Italian' style setting for the same era. Landsknechts are fine and all, but they have no sense of taste or style.  ;)

It's nothing wrong with asking so no need to apologize.

These crossbowman are an early preview, we'll need some months to release them. Currently you can purchase the earlier Bruegelburg releases there:

Well I will try not to bombard you with them but....

They would need to match in to the vague time period of the other Bruegelburg figures, so 1490 - 1520 time period. In my head I'm seeing a town the opposite of Bruegelburg, a place where art and science have taken precedence over religion and magic. The clothing is less 'German' and tighter fitting. Match that with the character you put into your sculpts and they should be awesome.

Fashionably dressed young duellists as in Romeo, Tybalt, Mercutio et al from Romeo and Juliet.

In essence, all that you've done with the Bruegelburg range, but different.  ;)

You could call it Città da Vinci, or Castello Michaelangelo, or something...  :?

Absolutely love these figures, Love all the Bruegelburg figures, but still working my way through Igor's STALKER figures, so haven't got around to getting any of these yet, but with each new release it gets harder to resist and more expensive to start collecting lol

They'd stand in for exceptionally well dressed Bruegelburgers... someone has to pay their wages after all. However we do need this 'Ratniked':

Some of these are skinny, but actually by Bruegel:

Massacre of the Innocents (lots of troops)
Census at Bethlehem (only a few pikemen in the centre background)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieter_Bruegel_the_Elder

But if you are going Italian, I'd look at the Borgias, but probably not the recent version, the 1981 version was heavily criticised but I thought Adolfo Celi made a great pope:

This has very little to do with clothes from the 1520 period.

Please illuminate me... and I did say; vague time period and 1490-1520 time period. It is of course a fantasy range too, so would a bit of anachronism be a problem?

I'll accept fashion changed from around 1515 or so onwards. It's always doing that, stupid fashion!

Judging by the Italian paintings here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1500%E2%80%931550_in_fashion#Style_gallery_.E2.80.93_Italy_and_Spain_1500s.E2.80.931520s), I don't see that I'm far off the mark. Fair enough it is Wikipedia, but the dates of the paintings shown aren't arguable.

I was a bit stuck for contemporary photos to illustrate what I meant, hence the use of largely TV and film impressions of what was worn around then.

The only negative for me, and it is totally a factor of personal taste, is them not being slightly more realistically proportioned.

I really like these. As for proportions, I think its the hang of the clothes (and beards in some cases) themselves that give the impression that they are mis-proportioned. I've stared at these a lot and tried to look under the clothes (no law against it) and I'm happy with them.

Explains why you didn't have the time to pick up some civility or attend charm school then.  ::)

Nevertheless I'll stick with wanting something along the lines of what I posted, however wrong or unhistorical it may be, for my fantasy setting.

The real William Tell was, supposedly (I didn't spend 25 years checking), a member of the German archery guild, the Brotherhood of St Mark, who were also known as ... the Marx Brothers.  Really.

Not that I want to put ideas into anyone's head, of course.

I have to disagree, even being especially forgiving with guessing where the chin and top of the head is these models are at most 5 heads tall.

A human is 7 to 8 heads tall.

Also the hands hang down to knee level rather than mid-thigh.

However I wouldn't dream of saying they are "mis-proportioned" this is obviously just the style chosen for them, which is sadly not one I am a great fan of.

I cannot think of one single solitary justification for buying these figures. They are not a period I play, they require superb painting, far beyond my meager capabilities, they are likely to cost me money I don't have, they are an inexcusable indulgence, I would buy them and then just sit and look at them, never knowing what to do with them....but they are so superb I will not be able to eat or sleep until I get some!

Brilliant. Just brilliant. :-*

 :-* lol o_o

My problem is that I can think of TOO many justifications to buy these bad boys...they are some of the most exciting figures that Ratnik has produced IMO...and thats saying something...I love most everything fantasy that he does.  Oh yes...these will be mine!

Love the group shot Alex!

They are great. I just ordered the Bruegelburg third wave deal (landsknechts) and will get these once they are available.

BTW, dwarf crossbowmen would be neat to.

Absolutely astounding, gorgeous, highly stylized works of art! Truly Ratnik is a Rembrandt! (Ignore the Plebs who don't understand that art is not about photcopying reality.)

Cool! Keeps getting better and better.

I would also like to get some extra landsknecht polearms, any plans for a pack of them?

Too kind mate :) Actually, I know perfectly I won't be disappointed: a dear friend of mine (MaxxVonMorton here on LAF) has bought several LAM goodies and so I've seen them in flesh. My first instinct has been something like "grab his minis, run away and paint them!"  lol And I've seen what you can obtain with those dwarfs  ;)
I'm planning an order since long time ago, always waiting to see new releases to combine the shipping....but now I really need to paint those crossbowmen. Can't wait no more: they are way to cool to be not in my collection :D And I'm going to buy the cannon set too if the release is simultaneous. Oh, and I need those jesters. Oh, and the Arnolfini's...oh, and the pigs..The only matter will be my ridicolous budget  :'(
