Assuming that my sources are correct the Hotchkiss Model 22 was used by the African troops along with the older Model 14.
Now, in principle the model 22 was loaded from a top loading magazine 'a la Bren' instead of the side loading strips of the Model 14.
Was this also the case with the guns of the Foreign Legion and the rest of the African units? Or did they have a strip- fed Model 22?
Also was this gun ever used on a bipod instead of the more cumbersome tripod? And if so where did the bipod connect to the gun itself?
Found a nice picture on
http://www.sbhac.net/Republica/Fuerzas/Armas/Infanteria/Ametralla/Ametralla.htm
and it seems hopper- fed but the magazine is not showing, and of course it's on a tripod.
Thanks very much for any info
PS still looking for that Biosca flamethrower...... so far no luck.....
