We have the greens and they are going off to the casters on Monday (I have to bloody work tomorrow >:( ).
But anyway, this is the start of a range of denizens of Mars and I hope that they appeal.
The first pack will be multipart with options for missile troops or hand/pole weapons. There is also a character figure that is a one peice.

They will hopefully be ready for Salute and will be taking part in the Martian demo game that I am hosting (as Oshiro).
One or two tweaks to do and they are done. The body poses will make more sense when they are put together.
There will also be a range of vehicles to go with them ;)
The figure is a Copplestone BoB Chinese Warlord for scale.
:)
cheers

This is good, I get to shoot down the natives!
-
Interesting and imaginative take on the Martian theme.
I immediately started thinking about what their culture would be like when I saw them.
The range looks very promising. :-*
-
We have some background fluff about the history of Mars. These first releases represent the Sky Martians. We will upload details in due course.
-
Oh I like them! :D
(they'd also make a great alternative bloodbowl/elfball team with ready open hands. Cool!)
-
Looking good. Reminiscent of the RAFM Bob Murch sculpts.
-
:-* :-*
Come to daddy!
-
I like! Especially that they're kind of low on details, which will make them fun to paint and very customizable. Who sculpted them? They sort of remind me of Buddle work.
-
Nice so far, do you have pics of the weapons yet?
-
I love these... nice solid sculpts and a great design...
who is actually releasing these then? Oshiro?
Malamute's 'we' has confused me - are these going to LAM? or some other venture?
-
It's a joint project between Nick and Jim. I think (and could be wrong here) that they are being released through Oshiro as Boothill is staying 'Historical' (as historical as Zorro can be).
-
Brilliant stuff James :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Thanks for the positive comments chaps :)
The sculpts were by Soapy and were designed by Nick and myself.
For the time being they will be available through here (when they are ready) and then there will be a dedicated website with lots of goodies in store :)
I'll take some weapon shots tomorrow evening.
cheers
James

Great looking Martians. I can see some uses for them in non-VSF games also.
-
Looking great :-* :-* :-*
Metal or resin?
-
Firearms to be included in the weapon mix?
-
Ooo, me likey.
Is it awful of me that the first thought I had was you could mix them with plastic Daemonettes as the females?
-
Looking very nice. Where are they going to be available from?
-
They will hopefully be ready in a couple of weeks time cast in metal.
As for weapons the Sky Martians do not use firearms, so these will be supplied with a mixture of pole arms and blades. Their fighting style is to close quickly to hand to hand combat and dispatch your enemy face to face...
-
Looking very nice. Where are they going to be available from?
Through here for now! when they are ready, and then a dedicated website sometime after Salute.
Weapon shots when I get back from work :)
cheers

Sounds great. I'll be keeping watch.

Looks great. Nice to see more coming out for Mars.
-
Finally got the photo sorted for the weapons and also a couple of shots of the skiff mock up :)
There are still a few details that need refining for the skiff. The 'eye' at the front is a harpoon launcher and the little platform at the back is where the 'pilot' will stand.

Figures and weapons off to the casters tomorrow :D I'm getting all excited ;D

Thanks for the update. This project is really looking great.

Forgot to mention that thee is a blog post on this with a bit more of the fluff explained :)

Nice figures. I can see these being used for anything from VSF to Future wars. Either us invading their world or an alien invasion of earth. Depending on how they are armed Aliens vs Cowboys, Aliens vs Vikings, maybe even Atomic Cafe Alien invasion.
-
Better get a move on with that Skiff, my anti-martian balloons are nearing... almost completion :)
-
Nice clean sculpts, James!
Can't wait to see a couple of the troops "put together."
I'm sure they will look quite awesome and then the question comes up... how do I get them to Venus >:D
-
Genius - well done guys. Looking forward to some of these :)
-
Wonderful.
When are the four armed Martians due?
-
No for armed ones I'm afraid :)
These are now in the post :D
cheers
James
-
Great sculpt and I love the skiff.
-
Skiff is very nice :-* :-* :-*
You have been busy.
Has the website been set up yet? Link?

Show us some pictures then Dean.
We want proof :D

Not until after Salute :)

No can do, currently awaiting a delivery of plastic rods so that I can assemble the 'side bits' and put it onto a flying stand. They have to be shown in final configuration or the effect would be lost. I have to admit that with the Venezian colours etc, they've gone a bit art-deco but they'll look cool and have cogs!
-
Ooo, me likey.
Is it awful of me that the first thought I had was you could mix them with plastic Daemonettes as the females?
Exceedingly! Only topped by my first thought, 'Tau?' ::)
Now that skiff is precisely what I've been imagining; I even gave the crew incredible skill at using laminar wind sheer between the upper and lower sails. In place of keel, don't you know... :D
Doug
-
very nice indeed
-
That skiff is EXACTLY what I have been looking for and wanting to try and build for myself for years for Martians. I love the lower masts, looking like wings and such.
Please get this in at a reasonable price point and I will buy two. Or three. Maybe four.
If I win the Mega Lotto, I'll buy a dozen and use them for Martian yacht racing.
-
Did a bit of work on the skiff master at the weekend but there's not much to show at the moment.
The skiff castings will not be ready for Salute but I'll be doing a couple of normal models that will be pretty much the same :)
cheers
James

:o :o :o
Great stuff, James!
:-* :-* :-*
Missed this until now!
Looking forward to seeing these foriegners all finished and ready to go.
As previously mentioned, there are plenty of alternative uses for them.
Maybe a post in the Future Wars area would be a good idea too, they could very well make great Tau.
That skiff looks great so far, REALLY looking forward to seeing that finished!
Watching with interest.
Much interest.....

You realise that statement makes no sense at all without context? Possibly worse is that I still understood it ;)

You've got me confused now ???

You've got time! You can do it!
:D

All back from the casters but with a minor hiccup I hope to resolve with them today :)
Painted the leader and put together four troopers, piccies below. Not the best pictures but to be honest, I really haven't the time at the moment ::) Hopefully better pics at the weekend.

Pack prices are £3 for the command figure and £9 for four troopers (you get four torsos, eight heads two sets of arms for each and about six weapons, maybe eight).
PM either myself of Malamute for more details or purchasing :)

Very nice. Is that a pearlescent paint or have you been clever with varnish somehow?

He's looking good. :D
Only another twenty or so to paint before Salute (which is next week) ;)

Varnish :) Had a look for pearlescent paint but no joy :(
We're looking at squads of eight for now.

Very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing them get gunned down at Salute ;)
.... Also looking forward to painting some up myself :)

Cracking stuff. :-*
Looking forward to fondling these in the flesh at Salute which is only 202 hours away at the time of typing. Do you need much sleep ;).

I am also particularly fond of the cloven hoof you have used on their feet. This has all sorts of interesting implications.
Such as "did early Martian contact on Earth lead to legends of a cloven-hooved evil being"?
Just thinking here...
But it is an original sculpt idea, and I applaud you for it. If I were not already so heavily invested in other Martians, I would be looking quite closely at these.
Maybe Venus needs another sapient lifeform. Only have three in my fluff background right now...
-
FIVE days ;D
-
FIVE days ;D
I'll jump ahead of Bibbly and say, Bugger off!
Just lost 4 days that had been set aside for Salute preparation due to wife and daughter emergency hospital call and illness respectively. Everything is looking fine (find out for sure tomorrow afternoon when tests come back), but it's made this upcoming week a bit tight... Like it wasn't going to be anyway ::)
-
Hope all is well Dean.
-
Hope all is well Dean.
So do I mate, odds are good that all is fine, test results come back later. Just typical that it all happened on the days where I was free and at home with plans to do stuff.
Just had a call from the doctor, sounds like the initial problem is fine but they've found something else :( Both of us have to go into hospital tomorrow to give blood samples so they can run comparisons.
That'll be another day lost then!
-
Health first, mate!
That is the really important thing.
-
Doesn't stop it being inconvenient though :)
-
Hope your family is okay. Nothing else is as importnat, not even our little toy soldiers.
It might be a close second, though.
-
Quick piccies of a Martian warband (got to go to work :( )? Better pictures tonight with a bit more light :)

-
Excellente. ;D I miust get started on my warband this weekend.... :D
-
Looking bloody good, James!
:-*
When you do take pictures later, could you take a pic of one next to one of your Japanese for scale?
:D
-
Looking rather good, James! I particularly like the more upright poses, they have a definite alien quality and more than a hint of menace.
-
Very nice.
