Good news everyone. As a few of you many know I have been diligently typing away on my brand-spanking new post-apocalypse ruleset called This is Not a Test. Inspired by the classic GW games such as Necromunda and Mordheim, and numerous other non-GW games, This is Not a Test features warband development, tons of skills and mutations, and plenty of firepower. Using a d10 and two simple die mechanics (beating a target number and opposed rolls), my ruleset is designed to be simple and fun to play. Determining if this last statement is true is where I need your help. I have put together a brief playtest packet and would like some folks here to give a looksie and hopeful may even take the rules for test run. Any feedback people can provide is invaluable and greatly appreciated. You can reach me here via PM or at my email at joseph_mcguire@hotmail.com. If you are interested please send me your email so I can you the PDF playtest packet. Thanks. :D

Got mine, thanks!

Got my copy, will put it to "the test" as soon as I can. :D

I forgot to mention. To those who received the packet and run a few games, please tell me what you think of the relative point costs. Point costing any system is rather complicated and my method is fraught with peril. I could especially use any feedback on it. Good or bad.

Thanks everyone for the playtesting offers. I believe I have sent out about 20 copies of the rules, bare bones as they are. I am happy at the support and look forward to the incoming feedback, the first of which has started to roll in. Remember anything you provide will get serious consideration. If you don't like something let me know. I might not change it at first, but there are no sacred brahmen. Thanks.

Hei Joey,
reading the rules right now and have just 2 small questions to be completley sure.
First, is passing activation between both players as long as somebody has minis left, or just one time, after player 1 missed the roll?
And Moral TN is 8, right?
In the description it's told that's 11, but on the Quick Sheet and the headline it's 8.
Ask you more if I find something, will play some game on saturday ;)
-
Yep, Morale should be 8, 11 is from a previous version of the rules and will be removed. Activation works like this.
Player A nominates a model, which passes it's activation test. After this model is taking two actions, the player then nominates another model, which fails its activation test. This model may now only take 1 action and play passes to Player B. Player B then nominates a model and so on and play continues in this manner for the turn until all models on the board have tested and activated. As a result of this play can pass between the players multiple times in the same game turn.
Does this answer your question?

That was what I was thinking, but thanks for the clarification.
Looking forward to the weekend :)

Email sent. Thanks.

So far, so good- I will be test-driving them this weekend.

Hei Joey,
the pointcosts for the primitive weapons are not available yet, aren't they?
Was thinking of having some minis with crossbows ;)
-
Just price anything on the primitive list as much as a pistol, so 5 points. That's a good stop gap measure for now.

Folks, two bits of note real quick. First, there is a mistake concerning the TN of morale tests, it should be 8 not 11. Also, Kitchen Sink is the name of the old rules and I failed to purge the name properly in the current set. When you see the name Kitchen Sink it should read This is not a test. Thanks.

Hi all. I thought I would provide a quick update on the ruleset in case of interest. Things are moving along nicely and I have finished the sections for warband creation, mutations (over 40), the armory (both mundane and ancient relics), and have finalized the warbands. types that will be available starting out.
The factions are:
Settlers - average wastelanders
Caravanners - traders and nomads
Preservationists - Order of Leibowitz or Brotherhood of Steel types
Robots - metal men of the ancients
Mutants - both civilized and outcasts
Raiders - criminals and thugs
Peacekeepers - road wardens
Tribals - the less than civilized
For my playtesters keep sending in your thoughts, though chatter has gone quiet and I have not heard from many of you. No pressure, but any input helps the process. :)
Thanks.

I will be attending Origins 2012 and I was curious if anyone here is going? I plan to bring terrain and such and if there is interest I would love to run a game for folks. Come see the rules in person, now with many exciting updates.
